Who are Levi Ives, and Richards? Are they trialists - No idea who is who.

I must admit that Courtney Richards (young trialist from Brighton's Academy) is growing on me. He has good battling qualities and is not afraid to get stuck in whilst at the same time is comfortable, if unspectacular, on the ball. He could well prove a good foil for Luke Young but as is always the case it is difficult to judge him based on appearances in friendlies.

As for Levi Ives, he was indeed "excellent" last night as Greavsie says on the OS. For those that don't know, he is one of our young trainees about to start his second year with us. He hails from Northern Ireland and has represented his country at all the various levels of football at his age level. Given his potential I would be really surprised if the club isn't already considering tying him up on a pro deal, in much the same way as they did with Jake Hutchings a while back.

You know your football Levi is good enough for the squad Richards is a must have Thompson is a work in progress Matts been on the juice getting carried away but it looks promising but we beat Yeovil last year and got relegated. :keepie:
How did the midfield partnership look CP? Did Richards show enough to deserve a contract/starting place for next season?

To be honest, Cruise carried on his useless form last night. He seems to have no tactical ability whatsoever, and was shown up in that respect by a completely inexperienced 17 year old. For me, we need a decent first choice left back with Ives as cover. Better in the long term we put some faith in Ives and aid his development than sign someone like Cruise who isn't good enough to be first choice. I would hope someone like Cargill is available.

Someone above also asked about Richards. For me, he's just not quite there yet. For a young man he seems to have potential, he made a couple decent tackles, a couple nice passes last night, but by the same token he also got caught in possession numerous times and went on a wander around quite a few times. We have what looks to be a very good midfielder in young and I think a need someone a bit more experienced and dependable in that role. Whether there is also room for Richards in the squad I don't know, but I would not be adverse to him signing with a view to 'develop', but not as first choice.

Cruise is an enigma. He is really good on the ball, has excellent skills but basically is inept as a footballer - whether he plays full back or centre half his positional sense and tactical awareness is zero.

Dutch, my "you mean McDonald" comment was directed at Arcadia, since he asked. I will concede to missing the first 'a' from his name. We posted simultaneously, so I hadn't seen yours when I wrote mine.

Tomo, I'm not really getting carried away based on one friendly. I am familiar with Cameron from last season, I know of Briscoe's reputation and I've seen Luke Young in action a dozen times for Plymouth. Ajala is very obviously hugely talented. The only one I'm judging entirely anew is Richards, and he looks pretty good to me, a view mirrored by one C. Hargreaves.

I'd be mad to actually base anything on it, but I don't think the view on the internet that they might just be better than whatever Dartford and Woking are putting together is probably justifiable.

Also, in a slight backtrack, I think we can forget about Cargill. I'm hearing he'll be first reserve for Ballmouth this season, some three divisions above us.

Not surprised, but I think levi could grow up quickly. The other young lad who came on who looked about twelve looks confident and I think Hargreaves would be foolish not to include him in the squad if we get off to a good start. :keepie:

If Cargill is not on the agenda - we need a left back big time!

I honestly thought this was nailed on. Not 100% convinced this is not lined up as CH seems to focussing recruitment elsewhere?

Ives is a promoted youngster. Richards is a triallist.

Having spoken with Cargil's dad after the Wycombie match there is no way his son is returning!
