Ian Hayman

Has retired after 25 years as a Director. Been through all the "highs and lows" during that time,but continued to provide valuable in-put despite two major heart-attacks.I remember seeing him immediately after the match when we were relegated to the conference the first time-he was in tears and absolutely distraught. A very loyal servant to the club whose financial expertise will be sorely missed.

Yes, indeed, a happy retirement. This man has been true quality at Torquay United. If I am not mistaken Ian was one of the leading figures, if not the leading figure in identifying the parlous situation the club found itself in when we had the 'walter mitty' chairman taking the club on the road to ruin. In fact if there was a saviour then Ian Hayman must be perhaps the man who deserves this title. I am sure his intervention and method for dealing with the crisis during this period has meant we are still in existence and have not gone into administration. A very able man and here's hoping there are other board members remaining with his perspicacity and integrity. Well done Ian Hayman.

I know for a fact then whilst the Roberts debacle was taking place at Plainmoor - Ian Hayman was down under watching the test match cricket! He kept well out of things.

If you want to know who sussed Roberts out first - you need to look much closer to home!

Ian Hayman - a proper Ellacombe buhy - born in Woodville Road, educated at Ellacombe Primary School and as a director sat in the Ellacombe End (Family Stand directors box).

Perhaps the fact that a man of 25 years service to the club (regardless of personal opinion) has retired and only elicited 5 responses is indicative of the terminal apathy that surrounds the club. I always thought that this was the 'GO TO' place for TUFC fans but not so as we enter 2015.

The man has given 25 years for pity's sake!! I'm not the biggest fan of people behind the scenes at TUFC as you all know but come on guys, it really is poor.

Most people only care about what happens on the pitch and do not even know who works behind the scenes to make sure that they can see a team in action. We have to be grateful to people like Ian Hayman and Brian Palk who have been through it all to ensure United still exist !!
