Either would be fine, tbh, at the level we find ourselves...worth a go, I reckon. Is this just a random player or someone we are meant to be linked with?

As we've spent so long with a goal shy strike force, someone who has the knack of scoring, albeit at a low level, would be a breath of fresh air.

He may not actually be any good, but the confidence and process of scoring so many goals would put him at a huge advantage of a forward line who seem to have lost that ability entirely.

Ironically Ross Hannah had a decent season in front of goal for Grimsby last time out at this level.

He is 27 which says it all - the level he is scoring goals at is rubbish. We might as well stick with Hawley. The reason no league club has ever signed him is simple - he is useless.

He's not exactly useless - he's greedy (as in rather takes a shot than pass) but knows where the goal is and scores at a prolific rate. He's scored some fantastic goals, has bags of energy though does get injured a fair bit (which makes his goals scored tally even better)

That said, league 2 would, in my opinion, be a step too far as would the conference - though never say never....

In this case, have a look at about a million different sportsmen who never quite made it. It is so very rarely down to a lack of talent. Ben Collins reveals in his book that he was rejected from F1, despite being the better driver, because the alternative was a lighter man. The team accepted that the weight saved would allow them to make the car proportionately faster than with having the better driver behind the wheel.
There could be any number of about 8,000,000 reasons why he's still at that level at his age, but 167 in 132 is no flash in the pan.

How many times have you seen him, Scotty? Do you really not think he could get 8-12 goals next year in the Conference as a back-up to Ash and wMhIoDeSvOeNr?

I've seen him several times this season - and lots of times throughout his career.

I'm not saying he wouldn't be any good, the pace of the game may be a bit too quick for him, but he could well make a cheap back up for our main forward line, whomever they may be.

It may be a step too far for him though - and he's settled over here too (the small stretch of water is bloody big when you're homesick)

If he's going to do it though, he needs to do it soon. Maybe he will have spoken to Tardif (keeper, ex Oxford), Zico-Black (lots of lower league experience) and James Hamon (keeper at Greasers), as well as Le Tiss, to get some idea of what the pace of the leagues are like, training etc.
I have a friend who knows him well....I'll sound him out and see if he is going to try and get some trials anywhere.

I think signing a player like this is our best hope of getting someone who is going to score plenty of goals.

There are players at lower levels who would make it. Every season, some ex-Dulwich Hamlet player seems to make a big move.

There are definetly players at lower leagues who could make it, you just have to be lucky and spot them.

Basingstokes town forward line was better than ours this season I can tell you (I watched them several times), and they were no great shakes. But at least they could head the damn ball and actually face the opposition. Those 2 things would be a start!

Yep, at least have a look. I've been banging on for years about this, you only have to look at John Still's record in conference and lower league management, and just how many rough cut diamonds he's found in the lower reach's of the non-league, if you're short of dough, this is exactly the way forward.

He's a footballer, they're all mad. Some get the chance to live down here, then cry about missing places like Luton and Accrington. Fine, if you're a big city boy and you want to head to the bright lights of London, you go with my blessing, but anyone who actively wants to live in the grim north or some Bedfordshire shithole instead of here should be sectioned immediately.

I've never been to Guernsey (worth a visit?), but I can't believe that it's too much different from here, not really.
