Keep calm and support Torquay (after summer)

Post by AustrianAndyGull »

Let's not bicker between ourselves and start slagging each other. Aren't we all too worn out for all that now? Whether we get relegated or not in the end, let's just forget about this season, enjoy the world cup and come back refreshed in the summer. I've had enough. I really don't give a toss which league we are in next season because whatever happens it is a new start, most of the players here will have gone and we can start again (deja vu) with renewed hope. I just want to see a vibrant, positive and competitive team and if I see that in the conference then I will be over the moon and once more not begrudge shelling out time and money to watch TUFC.

If it takes conference football to make fans fall back in love with the club then first of all it would be ironic that a drop in quality and losing league status would bring about such an event but I think it would. If Hargreaves truly is our messiah and truly is cut out for this football manager lark then we can only look forward to some happy days. How many happy days have YOU had supporting Torquay these last 2 seasons? For the club to flourish it needs excitement and enjoyment back to Plainmoor, I don't get to many home games at all but when I went for the Accy game last week the atmosphere was eerie. I felt like I was on an episode of Most Haunted and wanted to shout out, "IS THERE ANYBODY THERE?!!". Even when the Accy scored I couldn't hear their fans. It was like a supernatural portal inside Plainmoor sapping all life out of everyone. I tried to take some photos to try and capture some orbs. Orbs are spiritual manifestations that can be seen as balls of light or energy. The only energy inside Plainmoor last week was when I was trying to wake up my little man from his cold slumber inside the warmth of SpongeBob boxer shorts in the mens at full time.

What I'm saying is we don't need to fight. I'm saying that various people are to blame for our predicament but we will never all agree who the one person / party is. Let's just accept we are where we are and there is nothing we can do about it.

If we go down I'm not fussed anymore. My anger today was more out of a sense of injustice that if the fans in the stands today were allowed to play then there is no way Hartlepool would have not known they were in one hell of a tough football match. We have accepted defeat with 2 months to go. I'm not going to spend the next 2 months hanging on and hoping only to be deflated each game I go to and hope for better. Better will never arrive with this set of players.

Keep calm, wait for the summer.

Keep calm no matter which league we are in.

Keep calm and from summer onwards support Torquay again.

These next 2 months go to Exeter Chiefs, go and take the missus for a weekend break, go and enjoy a long walk with your dog or visit a Victorian folly. Even get hammered in the pub. It doesn't matter because this set of players do not deserve our support and if they perform a miracle and achieve survival and there is nobody there to see it then they have nobody to blame but themselves. Plus we get a bonus and save cash and get our lives back for a few months and raring to go for next season to support players that this time may give a damn.

If we go down then we have saved some cash, eased mental health issues and done something rewarding and productive with our time these next two months. I never, ever, ever, thought I would be encouraging people to give games a wide berth but continuing to attend when nobody gives is shit is just plain stupid.

Please don't argue with each other. This is not the footballing forum equivalent of the Event Horizon. We're all in this together and I'm proud of our fans.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Agree with some of that Andy but I'll still be going to plainmoor for all the remaining home games

Deserting plainmoor doesn't help the club in anyway whatsoever!

Also the potnoodlebrain and aldershotgull ill informed posters should be put right

Is that because you've got a season ticket PR and it's already paid? :na:

No, fully respect that and after posting all that i'll probably end up going to York and Mansfield but I actually think the point has been reached between fans being loyal and fans being taken for complete mugs.

there is a way and a mean though and resorting to petty insults and name calling is not the answer. I'm all for reasoned debate as its good but when it becomes mud slinging at other posters it stops being enjoyable for all

Not too sure about keeping calm, but I shall be at Plainmoor for the remaining games of the season and probably away games at Cheltenham and Exeter ........ and I shall be there after the summer, whatever league we are in. Feel gutted at present - not much else to say really :'(

I decided enough was enough after Northampton.

Cannot see myself going for a long while yet. I was looking to a revolution with Nico/Mansell all on there way out and a rebuild. CH cannot even drop Mansell or Nico so they will be here for many years to come.

Good post Austrian Andy,I also believe that we just forget this season and come back refreshed after the world cup.New league, new players, new hopes and a new season.I would go to the rest of this seasons games without any hope of a win but with with the idea of supporting Torquay United and keeping the boat afloat. On a separate issue the 125 Shirt should now take off as it will be the last shirt that Torquay United will wear in the football league,a collectors item but would it not be great if the board cut the price of this shirt so a lot more of the loyal supporters could turn up to show how much we care about Torquay United

I'll go to the remaining home games because I've got a ST. Seriously doubt I'll go to Exeter or Cheltenham unless we have a dramatic turnaround and the club miraculously get themselves into a position whereby safety could be a possibility.

It's been a terrible period and I'll have a break and go and watch someone else next season. I'll become one of these armchair fans I've read so much about.
TUFC never fails to let its fanbase down.

27/08/18 - Time to step back from this shambles and focus on things in life that make me happy. TUFC doesn't.

I will probably end up getting a season ticket again. If I don't it will be so easy to not bother going to matches. A few years ago, when Cornforth was in charge and the Czech bloke, I did stop going. On matchdays, a friend and I would go through our usual pre-match routine but simply stay in the pub, often close to the ground, while the game was on. It would be quite easy to do that again.

Me and the wife will still be going to plainmoor to support the team even though we are not season ticket holders, thats because we do miss games during the season, but rest assured we will support them conferanceor not, yes its been dire but we have seen worse, the dave webb days were far worse, the one thing that strikes me is how some so called fans want to slag the club off at every oppurtunity, we dont need this now, it doesnt help with people spredding rumours about finances etc.if we all stopped going for the rest of the season then where do you think the club would be with no money coming through the gates, bankrupt! No more tufc, maybe some people on here would be happy, or maybe we could be like luton town, 6 years in the conferance andstill getting 6_7,000 gates, why? Because they care they want there club to survive, the answer is, support your club or lose it, simple really. :scarf:
