I haven't posted for a few seasons (i'm not to be confused with a poster of the same name since!) I feel so sick and angry i don't know what to do - even more so that last time we went through this, knowing how hard the club has worked to come back.
As good intentions that the board have, I think they have had their eye off the ball for some time - this is illustrated by the idiotic comments Bill Phillips made about the playoffs prior to the Cheltenham game. In my opinion the board have been so concerned about a new shiny stand they have forgotten what a football club lives and dies by - the quality of the first team. They have been happy to have a manager in ML who will go along with how they do things. A manager is supposed to demand resources for the job in hand, not simply go along with relying on one player week in, week out for the whole of the season. I am sympathetic to ML's condition but I haven't felt he was the right man for the job for some time - in my opinion he should have had his p45 after the defeat by Wimbledon on New Year's Day. A good point was made elsewhere, where would we have been in the conference if it hadn't have been for the Bristow's? Answer - still down there on worse. The fact is there is no leadership or money at the club. Lee Mansell and Kevin Nicholson have wielded far too much power at the club for too long which has had a huge impact on results in my opinion. Our only hope is for someone to come in to shake things up, not be Simon Baker's poodle. OK, circumstances have been against us but I am so sick at how this has been allowed to happen - don't let anyone make you think this is down to ML's illness - it has been coming all season. This club is well and truly on the edge and there will be no coming back this time if the unthinkable happens - I can't believe those who are supposed to have the club at their heart's like us have allowed this to happen so easily.
