Salisbury are the visitors to Plainmoor tomorrow, as United chase a third successive win in their final evening match of 2024/25. After claiming a maximum points haul from back-to-back away wins at Chippenham and Tonbridge, Paul Wotton’s side will be looking to continue their excellent form at home, as the competitive nature of the National League South promotion race shows little sign of easing up.   Who’s the Boss? Image Brian Dutton was appointed manager of The Whites back in 2022, following the departure of long-serving previous boss, Steve Claridge. Having proven to be a genuine utility player during his time of the pitch with various clubs including Pickering Town, Cambridge United, Eastleigh and both Salisbury City and Salisbury FC, it was with Bristol Rovers that Dutton began taking his first steps into coaching with the Pirates’ Under-23 side, before going on to take up his first managerial role with Walsall. That stint may have only have lasted 20 games, however he clearly gained a taste for the managerial hotseat, and after a brief return to Bristol, Brian made the move to Wiltshire to take charge of The Whites. After following up a 15th-placed finish in 2022/23 with third position in his first full season in charge, victory over AFC Totton on penalties in the Play-Off final saw Salisbury earn promotion to National League South, the highest level the club has competed at since the it reformed ten years ago.   How have they been doing? Salisbury’s points tally of 37 points from 37 games sees Dutton’s side currently occupy 18th position, with their 2-1 defeat at home to fellow strugglers Enfield on Saturday certainly not easing any relegation worries they may have. They remain four points ahead of the dreaded drop-zone, and although only three sides in the division have won less games than tomorrow’s opponents, 2024/25 has already seen them record eye-catching wins over promotion-chasing Boreham Wood and Weston-super-Mare, as well as notable draws against Dorking, Eastbourne and Truro.   Player to Watch Image 25-year-old attacker Craig Fasanmade joined The Whites from local NLS rivals Chippenham Town last summer. Equally dangerous on either flank or in a central striking position, Fasanmade has followed up a superb season with Town that saw him score 14 goals in 46 games by notching 5 in 27 this term, and he will undoubtedly be looking to add to that tally in order to boost Salisbury’s survival prospects during the run-in. Previously a product of Oxford City’s youth system, he has also played for Hungerford Town, Wealdstone and Hemel Hempstead Town, before spending two seasons with The Bluebirds.   Played For Both Image In a strange twist of fate, United and Salisbury have switched right-backs since they last met. With Yeovil loanee Jordan Thomas impressing Paul Wotton with a lively display in The Gulls’ 1-0 win at the Ray McEnhill Stadium back in November, Wotton acted quickly to ensure that the ex-Norwich youngster was diverted to Plainmoor following the completion of his temporary stint in Wiltshire soon after. The void left by Thomas’ departure was filled in due course though, as Finn Tonks headed in the opposite direction after returning to parent club Bournemouth following a productive loan stay of his own on the English Riviera. After making 18 outings in a United shirt during his six months in Torquay, Tonks has since gone on to establish himself in the Whites’ line-up, with the defender making seven National League South appearances following his arrival at the beginning of February.   Ticketing information for tomorrow’s match is available HERE, whilst Rockfish will also be serving up some superb seafood hospitality ahead of kick-off.
