Our next 5 Games in NLS

Post by portugull »

The next 3 weeks could be very significant in our season with a New Manager and a New Squad.

Why do I say this?

Well starting next Saturday with our visit to Chelmsford we are about to play 4 away games and just 1 Home Game v Boreham Wood on Saturday March 1st.

Chelmsford sit in 9th place a massive 9 points behind WSM in 8th place. On Tuesday 25th Feb we visit WSM who we beat 4-2 at Plainmoor on 26th November in the best Match of the Season.

Chippenham away 4 March and Tonbridge away 8 March. I would consider 9 points from a possible 15 would be a good result and give us 68 points going in to the last 9 games 5 of which will be Home
and against teams in the bottom half of the Table but I know that means nothing as there are no easy games in NLS. However I would rather play such teams than those in the Top 7 places.

Of the Top 7, really 6 as we are 2nd, we have 3 games left Boreham Wood Home and Dorking and Truro away.

As the Table stands no team has managed an average of 2 points a game. Dorking and Worthing come nearest both just 3 points short of 2 points per game.

It looks highly likely this season will go to the wire. COYY.

I was okay with that until I read '5 home games against lower league teams' as our run in!

Could this be yet another season where TUFC snatch defeat from the jaws of victory?

We're certainly not well fancied by the bookies as it stands to win the NLS.
Dorking, Worthing and Boreham Wood are all about 2/1, 5/2, 3/1 kind of price.

Torquay are out at 15/2.

There's still about a third of the season to play..... But to get into contention will need a good run of Ws from us and others slipping up.

Take it one game at a time, we do not want to concern ourselves with anybody but our next opponents, forget Dorking, Boreham Wood etc until we play them. IF we do not achieve bour objective of winning the league, that will be down to OUR results.

I was aware that before Saturday, we were 9/1 but forget it......it means nothing! Just improve our away wlins ratio, while maintaining the best home record in the league and we will be ok.

You wanted nine points, we got eight, pretty good guess work. Starring with Salisbury on Tuesday, we must be positive and not sit back. We are at our best when going forward.

This is our last midweek fixture for the league season, then apart from Easter, it will be Saturdays only. Every match is a potential banana skin.

Only Dorking away (15th March) and Truro, away on Good Friday, all the others are bottom half teams
......but they can cause the most trouble for us, if we underestimate them

Let us see what we are made of. COYY.
