An afternoon at the Music Hall.
Having just watched the Woking FC tv version of events it struck me that the Music Hall element in football, never very far from the surface, was prominent at the Kingsfield on Saturday. In particular, the stock character of the 'pantomime villain' was played to perfection by Mr. Gerring, who grinned and mugged his way through his role before leaving the stage dramatically just before the final curtain. The feeling that one was present at a particularly badly acted matinee performance was exacerbated by the shouts, cries, bangs, hoots and pyrotechnics of the ill-disciplined audience which indulged itself in ape-like chest beating and posturing, usually seen when two opposing tribes meet in a jungle clearing or by a water hole.

Can't believe there's anymore to be said on the subject.
