TUST

Post by Behind-the-Gulls »

It seems to me that given the current situation at Plainmoor-all the uncertainty around Martin Ling's unfortunate stuation; the pending appointment (of an as yet unknown )temporary manager; the unexpected run of poor results that has seen us cascading down the table, and the growing unease that supporters are feeling about the way things are going,on the pitch at least;that communication needs to be taking place between the organisation that was set-up to represent the views of the supporters to the club-namely Torquay United Supporters Trust, and the Board. I would also throw in to this mix less urgent issues that need to be raised such as the state of the pitch, the new club shirt, the loss of atmosphere at games due to the Family Stand being so empty etc.
Surely now is the time for TUST to be proactive seeking answers to questions many supporters are asking but not always getting straight answers to;offering constructive criticism where appropriate but also helping to rally supporters round the club in order to help avoid the catastrophic situation that could arise should we be relegated back to the Conference.
The trouble is I haven't a clue what's happended to TUST in recent months-there was a ballot on moving the function of the organisation away from the Supporters Club style approach it had adopted in recent years and supporting the setting up of a new Supporters Club to fulfil that function, but I(as a member) have heard nothing since. The website hasn't been updated since November and I'm not sure all those listed on the site as having positions on the Committee are even involved anymore.
When times were good (as they have mostly been since the new board took over), it was clear the need for TUST was reduced;however I do now feel a meeting of TUST officials with representatives of the Board would be mutually beneficial and help re-establish lines of communication between supporters and club which appear to have disappeared somewhat recently.

Agreed. I am putting money into the trust on a monthly basis and it would be good to see if there is a fund that could be put to good use and help the club out.
Mmmmmm, beeeeeeeer.
