TORQUAY United have scheduled two more friendly games for October as part of Martin Ling’s policy to keep his squad match-fit and sharp. The Gulls drew with the Nike Academy earlier this month and welcome a reserve side from Bournemouth to Plainmoor on Wednesday for a 1pm kick-off. The October plan will see Exeter reserves visit on Tuesday, October 16 and then Cheltenham reserves are in town a fortnight later on Tuesday, October 30. These two games will also be at Plainmoor, kicking-off at 2pm. Entry for supporters will be £3 for adults and £1 for concessions.

For a change, I'm missing the away game, so will be getting my fix at the reserve match. I'd have gone anyway, you understand. After Rotherham, I'm buggered if I'm travelling to Wombledon on a Tuesday night.

Bit of an odd game, entertaining enough but nothing to set the world alright. Won 2-1, should have been 5 but our reserves suffer the same problem as the first team. They, unbelievably, had a man sent off, but no one is quite sure why. We presume he said something unsavoury to the lino.
Karl Baker good, but will need a bunch of coaching before he's ready, Macklin plenty good enough but didn't try very hard. Cruise looked very good.
The referee was very fat and very old.

To be fair he has been told to ease himself back in as not to have a recurrence of his injury.ferrarilover wrote:Bit of an odd game, entertaining enough but nothing to set the world alright. I've spoken to the linesman and he gas confirmed it was for foul language at him.
The referee was a late replacement, only appointed this morning.

Cheers Y4L, we assumed it was, he just started flagging as if to signal his impending demise, then the extremely fat ref sent the player for an early bath.
I'm sure he has, Rich, but it wasn't that sort of 'not trying very hard'
