Macklin is a waste of space. Ling has made it clear he doesn't want him. Good riddance. Only trouble is noone will want him - least of all Buckle.

Another correct decision by ML in my opinion, Macklin needs to buck his ideas up and start fulfilling some potential or head on out the door, he can't kid himself different.

What do you mean "least of all Buckle"? You mean the same Buckle who gave his one and only three year contract to, eerm, Macklin!?

I see Ling has had another crack at Macklin after there has been no contact regards him after being placed on the transfer list. He does not pull any punches on this but it has to be worrying for Lloyd that it has been so quiet. If he does stay then lets hope this is the wake up call he needs to turn the potential into match day performances.

Seems to me like Macklins happy to do naff all and get paid each week. If nobody comes in this transfer window I'd terminate his contract.

I read a tweet from Lloyd the other day saying "Every defender I come up against this season is getting ruined". There are also a few other posts that indicate he's going to be putting the effort in this season.

Fingers crossed for the lad as it would be such a waste if he drops out of the game through lack of effort. Nobody watching him against Exeter last pre-season could deny he has the potential to make it.
Mmmmmm, beeeeeeeer.

What Buckle was doing giving this waste of space a 3 contract I don't know, as he never showed any real promise when he was given chances to play. He had absolutely feck all end product and obviously didn't work hard enough on his game.

He did have the potential to develop really well, but he might have missed the boat now I reckon. Sort your life out Lloyd before you end up working in McDonald's.

quite honestly, i hope he steps up to the plate. potential is a word that is too easily used, but he's clearly got something in there, and if he can sort his attitude out, work hard, and earn himself a chance, we might end up with a decent player on our hands. we all know we need better options out wide, especially with his pace, and if he can sort himself out, he could be a massive bonus for us. i think ling's playing mind games here to get a reaction, and it's up to lloyd to say "f*** you, i'm gonna do it and show you all". i think we should give him one more chance, and it's up to him to take it.

Would be great to see him adopt the right attitude and come up with the goods.......terminating a contract tends to cost as much in the long run as paying somebody to sit on the sidelines unless the contract has been badly done (badly from the players perspective) so think he has to work to earn it, and a bit of self respect.

Think we all agree that for the team and his sake he does...come on Lloydy, sort it out geezer (bit of streetspeak there from the heart of Shakespeare country).

Lloyd has all the potential but chooses to abuse it, what a waste of a player. I only saw Macklin play once last season and that was against Saints away, when he played for about 10 minutes. But what you saw of him was just brilliant! He looked so strong, speedy and skilful! If he put his mind to it and stopped messing around on twitter and stopped acting like a right pillock, then he would be a contender for a first 11 position I'm sure of it. Like Ling said Macklin, "Pull your finger out!"

On the flipside he could be the type where the reaction to this challenge to him is "F*ck you lot I'm not going to put in effort for someone who doesn't rate me". Depends what type of person he is I suppose. Let's just hope he sees it is a positive challenge to him.

Based on what we've seen so far this is probably the most likely outcome. Still, you never know. I think most of us would be happy if he put the work in and made something of the undoubted ability that he has. This is the last year of his contract, right? If he doesn't improve he could easily find himself out of the game entirely next June.

I get the impression that Ling isn't pig-headed enough to not give the guy a chance if he showed something in training, so if he fails, it's all on him.

my take on it is Ling has tried, the previous manager tried, and no doubt they tried at swindon, to get Lloyd to step up and make something of his potential. Til now nothing has worked, so ML has (probably as a last resort/effort) gone down the "you're throwing your opportunity away, and no one else wants you" route to see if that provokes a positive reaction. nothing has worked until now, so hopefully this will work. if it does work, it will only be good for TUFC.

Spot on. Worrying for Ling that Macklin and best pal Leadbitter seem to be heading down the same road - albeit Leadbitter is at an earlier stage of it. Hope for them both that the hard lessons have been learnt and the effort and commitment is now put in. Last chance saloon Lloyd - let us now see what you have always threatened.
