Not a shock - but who would want him? Done nothing now for 3 years and would have to take a big step down. Suspect he might sit on his wage till his contact expires. Thanks PB!

Sounds like Ling doesn't like his attitude.

Jesus, there's no flannel or sugar coating in that statement, pretty harsh (but entirely well founded) from Dinger.
Could we FINALLY have found some news that'll make Brucie happy?
Matt.

Brucie will tell us now he always like Macklin, and that Ling's poor management cost us a good player...ferrarilover wrote:Jesus, there's no flannel or sugar coating in that statement, pretty harsh (but entirely well founded) from Dinger.

hopefully hes said that to give him the shock he needs to make him realise that hes throwing away every lads dream of being a footballer by not applying himself and being content with skulking around on the bench after 5 years in the game

Ouch, pretty strong words from Lingy on the OS - clearly, as others have hinted at in the past, it would appear that LMs attitude is a problem. I can only imagine he doesn't put enough in when it comes to training as to be fair to him he has hardly been given much of a chance when it comes to showing Lingy what he can do at first team level.
The problem, of course, is whether there will be anyone interested in his services. I cannot really see him getting fixed up with a League team and so his best hope is probably at BS Premier level or below. I doubt we are paying him much by way of a wage but nevertheless he may struggle to get anyone else to match it and so it wouldn't surprise me if we have to make him some sort of offer to rip up the remainder of his contract eventually. I suppose a season long loan to somewhere like Truro/Salisbury might be an alternative - with us paying part of his wages. Other than that though, he can just stay where he is for the next 12 months and worry about his future next summer -as judging by the comments made by ML it wouldn't look like there is any real future for him with TUFC.

You never know, Ling himself said he has never cut someone off from the side, and maybe, just maybe, this could be the thing that shocks Macklin into wanting to get a career out of this.
Ling is right that at the age of 22(?), Macklin has not developed nearly enough. Just look at Eunan, he is one of the most well-known League Two players around and he is the same age. For Lloyd's sake I hope he sorts himself out, even if it's not with us.

wheres he been this season, salisbury wasnt it? still paying a squad member for 12 months doing nothing is not a good position, hopefully he'll come back a changed man and be the new danny stevens!!

could work out to be a bit of genius from Ling - nobody comes in for Macklin except for some obscure Blue Square North side offering £25 quid and 4 porkpies a week) - Macklin trains with TUFC, gets an attitude adjustment, and flourishes.

For the record, Macklin's only 20. I think the lesson from this is that 3 year contracts are for the likes of Eunan and Bobby, not unproven kids.
