Why Wolves will stay and QPR will go

Post by AustrianAndyGull »

O'Neill comes in to the hotseat at the Stadium of Light and turns the mackems fortunes around in an instant with the same players Steve Bruce couldn't motivate. Sure it happens at most clubs when a new manager comes in, results generally improve to a certain extent but O'Neill is a talented manager. QPR sack Warnock and then give the job to Hughes, another of those ex-pro's who have taken to management but have had a host of clubs and generally done f**k all, ala Bruce et al. Hughes spends cash and yet they are still shit. Wolves appoint internally and pick up a point away at Newcastle that could have been three. OK so it is only Connor's first game in charge of the Wolves but i would rather have him than any of these managers whose names consistently get regurgitated and banded about for any managerial vacancy going abegging in the Prem. I'd have a bet with anyone now that QPR will drop and Wolves will stay up and then Hughes will leave and then rock up at some other mediocre Premier League team and do nothing special. It is so predictable. Chris Hughton, Brian McDermott these are the promising types of managers who deserve a crack at the big time, can you imagine Hughton at Villa instead of McLeish? I bet the Holte End faithful would accept the former bluenose with far greater appreciation than the latter. MESSAGE TO CHAIRMEN: STOP GIVING JOBS TO THE SAME OLD MEMBERS OF THE UNPRODUCTIVE, TIRED, UNSUCCESSFUL EX-PLAYER MANAGER FRATERNITY AND GIVE SOMEONE ELSE A TRY! It might just keep you up.

I don't think either will go down, Wigan, Bolton and Blackburn for me, but I agree with the rest of your post ;-)

Agree entirely. They won't learn of course, in the same way that the England squad at the Euros will be full of the same old shit who've let us down for the last 16 years.
People trade on their names, it's the same thing that allows Nick Freeman to charge £50,000 to write exactly the same letters to exactly the same people that my firm will for £700. Because people have heard of him, he's a big name, he's not very good, but it makes people feel better that they're paying a fortune and going with a name they have heard before.
How many times have we had Halpin, Spear and Yeoman on the bench and instead of taking off three under performers and throwing on the hungry kids, we trade, say, Rene for Tai, totally ineffective, but safe, because Tai is an established name.
Going with an unknown is a risk, as Chelsea are finding out, and in today's top flight game where every loss costs a club £10,000,000,000,000, it's a risk which is simply not worth taking. And that is a very great shame indeed and the precise reason why I will laugh like a drain the day the Premier League collapses under the weight of its own smug self-importance.

Matt.

As much as i admire the footballing philosophy of Martinez, if you concede more than you score AND sign Connor Sammon to get you goals then you're heading for the Championship. QPR will join them as they have self destructing players, Barton, Cisse, Taarabt et al and Hughes gets angry but can't change games, and Blackburn will drop. I think Kean has done an amazing job all told this season but will just get dragged back in last off and drop.

Agree with you 100% Matt. In Chelsea's case it's AVB ( he doesn't have a name - he's just an anacronym ) who has pissed about with the team purely because he thought he knew what he was doing but he didn't have a 4 by 2. In the Torquay case, we don't have any other options so why not sling on Craig and see what happens? You've only got Tai and McPhee so what is there to lose?

I would rather England go to the euros with youth and few mid career players (Rooney) than the old hasbeens of Lampard, Terry etc. and get knocked early trying than waste of poop we had at the world cup. The WC was embarrasing for me living in the states I would take Gerrard and Parker. At least Parker looks like he gives a shizzle.

Austrian can stay out of this with his governator stadium (Sturm Graz) :~D

But Andy as far as mangers go. I agree with you. Buckle needs a chance.

Whilst I agree with the sentiments of your post Andy, Wolves football club can take no credit what so ever for ending up with Terry Connor as there current manager.

Connor only got the jobs thanks to the board at Wolves turning the prosess of finding a new manager into the biggest clusterf@ck in that clubs history, had they offered say Walter Smith a 3 year contract , he would now be Wolves manager, or either of the other "high" profile names Wolves spoke to about the job.

If Terry Conor does a good job and keps them up, will the board at Wolves have the balls to offer him the job on a permanent basis, we will see on one.

For what its worth, I hope Q.P.R do go down, start of the season they tried to jusify charging £50 to get in to certain area's of ground by saying they want to be a boutque club, horrible little club more like , who then signed Joey Barton, who can stick his twitter account right up his arse , hope you enjoy life in the championship, cock.

Blackburn are an example of what happens when smell money and let some like the Venkys take over your club, they did not even undertsand that you could get relegated from the premiership or what it meant.

Agree USA. If i were an England fan i would play Cole, Rooney, Gerrard and possibly Parker of the 'old guard' and have the rest of the squad made of of the younger players. Playing Terry would be hilarious to watch though!

Ignore me. Wolves are doomed! ( BUT SO ARE QPR AND WIGAN ). Wigan deserve to go down as they offer absolutely nothing. They are dull.

Wigan will stay up! I do believe that much .. partly because of a drunken bet with my old Man in which now we have £50 on Wigan's fate! He like many of you believe they will go but i think they'll pull something out again. For me its Wolves, Bolton and QPR.

I'm not so sure about Wolves now but i am still 100% certain that QPR are going. They're 1-0 down at Bolton currently and players like Derry, Cisse and Barton are giving 5% effort but they still get paid and still get picked next week by a regurgitated manager that has achieved nothing in management other then to try and get out of trouble by buying more players who don't give a shit. Bye bye QPR :na:

Did you see the game? Cisse was pretty good today. Barton was poor and Derry was ok. Problem is with QPR they look like they have no game plan.

I like the look of Cisse since hsi return to England. I'd definietly back them to have the firepower to stay up if they didn't have such a tough run-in. They will need to cause a few upsets but it should be an interesting watch for the neutral!

Problem with QPR is they have no team spirit and lots of ego's.

Problem with Wolves is that they concede too many and don't score enough, have replaced McCarthy with an amateur who cannot possibly deal with the pressure of being at the bottom of the Premier League AND have Richard Stearman in defence who is second only to Dean Leacock as the worst and most incapable defender ever to appear in the Premier League.

Problem with Wigan is that they don't score enough goals, a problem they have tried to address by signing Chilean striker Jean Beausejour. I don't think that Martinez has quite grasped that strikers are there to score goals and the fact that Beausejour couldn't hit a barn door for a Championship side combined with his replacements being Connor Sammon, Hugo Rodallega and Victor Moses means that it is Championship football for them next season. Rodallega is reported to have told Wigan that he will be on his way when the season ends. Where to? The pissin job centre? If anyone in the Prem signs him then they really have got more problems than the three teams i've tipped for the drop put together! I watched some of the game today and actually thought Wigan looked dangerous at times but when you've got a Championship strike force then that's where they'll end up taking you.

Wigan, QPR and Wolves will go.

Blackburn despite all the pressure on Kean who has earned so much respect from me this season, have the team spirit and some useful players so will be safe and i feel the same about Bolton too.

Ok Nick so i got it so completely and utterly and embarrassingly incorrect!! :'(

I stand by view that Wigan are an atrocious side despite them beating Man Utd and Arsenal! I want Wigan to go down because they offer absolutely nothing every year to the league. They don't even have any ambition to be a mid table club.
