I am not surprised to see that the away Ticket allocation has SOLD OUT in record time so we could be in for a bumper gate.

I gather Argyle have a New Pitch laid so no PSF's at Home Park this year hence the demand from Argyle Fans for this Match.

Should be a great atmosphere and Wayne Rooney will have a somewhat unusual experience of visiting a very small Stadium and discovering that us Devon Dumplings enjoy our Footy!

Will be a good spirited game, with Neil Warnock's links to Torquay and Plymouth, Same for Paul Wotton and also one of Rooney's first few games in charge.

So I hope the support shown from the Argyle supporters towards TUFC last season is acknowledged at some point. A thank you to those Argyle fans that put their hand in pocket to support TUFC at our lowest ebb, when Osborne did one. Really appreciated the support then and should be acknowledged.

Pretty much every professional side will have a new pitch installed, I think Argyle has some concerts after last season and so this is why they delayed this work being started straight away.

They always sell out their allocation, unlike Exeter.

The Rooney effect, the Plymouth connections, the new owners, new managers and new team, I think it was only around 3000 last season, so 4000 or above would be fantastic and good for the clubs bank balance.

When I started this thread on 9th July I was quietly confident we would SELL OUT and I see the Club have today confirmed tickets are SOLD OUT.

It may only be a PSF but what a brilliant way to start a New Season under New Ownership. Bring it on!!!

5 people required medical assistance today all on the pop

Hundreds of water bottles handed out during half time and 2nd half

It was very hot with all the body heat

Just back from a packed Plainmoor.
The first half was severely disrupted by 2 Medical Emergencies.
Prior to Kick Off Mark Bowes-Cavanagh and Michael Westcott made a short Presentaion and thanked the Supporters for standing tall during, before and after the Club going into Administration.
Argyle won 2 nil and I thought many but not all of our new team looked very promising.
The stand outs for me were James Hamon, Sam Dreyer who got MOTM, Finn Tonks, Oscar Threlkeld and Cody Cooke.
Omar Mussa will be a great signing but clearly has joined late and not Match Fit.
Argyle have some great players and it will be very interesting to see how the club does this season with Wayne Rooney in the driving seat.

Hard to judge in a match against a team 4 levels up from us.
Obviously we couldn't create much or get much of a look in up front.but think Ben Seymour will be a lively threat in attack. 16 goals in this league last season. The two other Bath lads Dyer at the back and Hayfield in midfield look good solid acquisitions to me. Sam Dreyer was superb at centre back.

Firstly a big well done to the medical and security staff who were certainly tested to their limits today, personally thought they handled and dealt with those situations very quickly and were well organised.

As for the game, there were some real positives to take form this, we all know Plymouth are a Championship, so no surprise they dominated possession, and had pace to burn out wide so it was always going to be tough afternoon.

Many of the 50/50 physical battles were lost as you'd expect, and in opening minutes playing what looked to be a wing back system our team were carved open with ease at that point I was fearful of a real beating, but our system soon changed to more of a back 4, and team soon settled.

It was nice to see our team defend so well through out with Jay Foulston the stand out player, thought he was expectational with only one real mistake, it was also nice to see the team keep there shape, and they looked organised.

Forgive me still trying to learn who all the players are, but from the ones I did manage to figure out, Tonks considering he's only just arrived thought looked to be one to watch, Dan Hayfield had a good game, Oscar Threlkeld also looking solid, brings some calmness and experience, although clearly tired late on.

I'd already posted that James Hamon commands his area well after Buckland, and did so again today, but slightly kamikaze today on a couple of occasions, and I felt could have done better on the second goal, it appeared to be a shot that perhaps could have been held, at the very least his parry looked weak and flat handed, but all round did have a good game.

This was game so easily could have ended 0.0 , not sure who the player but caught wrong side for the penalty, now looking forward to Tuesday.

Sorry to nit pick, but..

I don't imagine that's something we'd anticipate, at all. Footballing wise you'd expect Plymouth to be too good for us, but expecting Plymouth to come out on top in physical battles? Surely not.

As well as being better footballers and more skilful, players 4 levels up in The Championship are also fitter, stronger, quicker and sharper !

No need to be sorry here at all. Its not just consistency and technical ability that sets players out between the higher and lower ends of English football, athleticism plays a big part in it also.

I'll always express an opinion on what I've seen that will be honest, and humble(I've never claimed to be always right) am most of the time

my post was in no way in criticism of our team, it is an observational statement based on what I saw, they were committed, defended well, kept their shape, contained Plymouth for long periods, got on the end of a fair slice of the 2nd ball, it was just in the ariel battles most were lost, and when engaging 1v1 Plymouth players came out with the ball on most occasions, but as I said , that's was to be expected, there's no shame in that from a Torquay point of view, they are 4 leagues higher than us.

Just to correct a mistake on my part.The stand out defender for me was wearing the no5 shirt , which I've realised wasn't Jay Foulston, but was Sam Dreyer
