Torquay United v Solihull Moors - Tuesday 23rd March - Kick Off 19:00

Post by Nick Potkins »

So here we go again, a chance to take another big step forward towards the play-offs or maybe something better.

I expect the same starting line up as Saturday, sadly not expecting any injury returns yet.

Quite simply, we need to score first. COYY

Such a difference having a specialist left back on the pitch.
Gaining probably the most in forward play with Andrews playing a more natural role.
What a pity we had to ‘make do’ for so long - feel we missed out two-fold: Better cover on the left flank and the delivery of Andrews going forward in the absence of other wide players.

Is that the Jamie Ward who used to play for us at the start of his career?

Cracking first half and a well deserved two goal lead, Law and Andrews have been outstanding and are causing mayhem down the left, on the negative little is anonymous and Wynter is definitely still worried about his injury, he pulled out of a tackle in the six yard area that nearly cost us a goal. Hope we play the same second half because if we do they cannot hurt us.

Getting better... Andrews running the show down the left, aided well by Evans and Law. Superb free kick for the opener and well taken by Randell for the 2nd.

Great to see Andrew’s in an attacking position again, hope he can cling on to it!

Agree with SuperNickyWroe, first half we were comfortable, and something I haven't said since Christmas we were enjoyable to watch, second half not so much, not sure if the first half intensity could not be kept up orJohnson told them to hang onto what we had, either way its three points.

Talk about a game of two halves! First half full of short, crisp passing pulling their defence around, 5 corners, 9 attempts and six on target - Solihull just about stayed in the game at 2-0 down. Looked forward to building on that second half but we more or less shut up shop - only 1 corner and no attempts on goal at all during the rest of the game. Solihull looked better when their big forward went off - they suddenly realised that route one football wasn't going to win it for them and they had a couple of decent attempts from playing to feet to match their two in the first half. My MOTM was Andrews for some clever play at both ends of the park and a cracking free kick goal. Also worth a mention were Hall, Sherring, Lewis and Randell for their largely defensive efforts to keep Solihull quiet for much of the second half. Good job we picked up 3 points given the other results at the top.

Excellent performance, that is better two wins and two clean sheets in in a few days. We must follow this up with another good showing at Dagenham, and most importantly the three points.

Only downside tonight is all our main rivals won but we can not control that - we have to focus on winning all our matches.

Well done tonight.

Would suspect the latter - we can still pull Sutton back if we put the points on the board.
