Good news, game off!
Gives us a chance to, hopefully, get some of our injured players back. A week now before our next game let’s hope Kai can work his magic and get a few off the treatment table. Maybe also a week of ‘light training’ is needed and come back for a refreshed challenge to the second half of the season.

Really chuffed about this although not sure what I will be doing with my Saturday afternoon, no concern about fixture pile up as we have played more than most clubs in our league, let them worry about having to play three games a week.

17:20 next Saturday will give us more of an idea of our position in the league as others may have played another 2 or 3 by then.

Hartlepool are currently 8 points behind us and have three games (if nothing gets postponed) before we kick off next Saturday so would be above us if they won all three. A draw or win by us against Halifax would put us back on top and we would have played the same number of games then.

At present, before this weekend's matches, Sutton and Notts County are the only teams able to knock us off top spot, with their games in hand. With this weather causing more chaos, i would rather be in our position than trying to play catch up.

By the time we kick off next Saturday our lead will likely be 1 point. Sutton have home games this week v Dover and Wealdstone and will still have a game in hand. They seem to be playing at home every week on that bloody pitch of theirs which gives them a big advantage, in fact 5 of their next 6 games are at home ! Some may say injuries again but whatever, we seem to have blown a fantastic position.

Although because of their pitch does it mean they can’t get promotion unless they change it?

They would take it up and relay with grass. No barrier to promotion in that respect.

Dover have now furloughed all their players and won't be fulfilling anymore fixtures. That's **** it.

So if my calculation is correct and Dover games are scrapped we will lose three points, as we beat them and Notts County who they beat get away with it.

In my view the table looks like this, with Dover games removed
1 Notts County -18 points dropped
2 Sutton United -20
3 Torquay United -22
4 Hartlepool Utd -24
5 Stockport - 25

We are still in this big time, but being Torquay there were always going to be twists, we have lived with it all our lives. We could still do the double, remember seasons past and the great escapes - this has to be better.

I suspect that the national league may have something to say about Dover other than expunging their results, In one way this will force the league's hand and may be the catalyst for several other clubs in similar circumstances to follow suit. Does this mean that Dover are automatically relegated and will their be additional penalties for not finishing the fixtures, I agree with the Dover chairman's views that on one hand the league has told them not to take on debt and use best business practices, then on the other hand told them to take a loan out from Sports England at 6%. If I recall the league only started on October with the promise of continued funding whilst there were no crowds. Not sure I would place a bet on our league continuing to its conclusion.

Dover havn't wanted to play all season though. They've fulfilled a pathetic 15 fixtures. Neglected their pitch. Basically just don't want to know.

Could be viewed as a cynically attempt to force the leagues hand - ie they've got 10 points I think at the moment. If the league stops then they won't be relegated so that would be a good outcome.

Either way they should face santions and should be automatically relegated whatever happens.

One bit of good news about the Dover situation, they were /are due to play Sutton away on Tuesday
