10 games into the 19/20 season

Post by Teigngull »

After our appalling start to the 'championship winning ' season we've just enjoyed, where do you all EXPECT us to be after the first 10 games of the 2019/20 season ?

I genuinely have no idea of what to expect

P. W. D. L. F. A. Pts.
10. 0. 0. 10. 5. 10. 0 = an absolute disaster, or maybe it'll get better in time ?

10. 3. 3. 4. 6. 6. 12 = a mediocre start, but could & should be better ?

10. 5. 5. 0. 10. 8. 20 = yep, a steady start, should be a rewarding season ahead ?

10. 6. 2. 2. 15. 7. 20 = as above, but we're hard to beat, this team is good enough ?

10. 7. 0. 3. 8. 8. 21 = should be contenders if we stay virtually injury free & can sustain this sort of form ?

Or

10. 10. 0. 0. 20. 5. 30 = in total dream land, GJ is a genius, surely we can't keep this up, or can we ?

I know, I'm bored, just putting a few scenarios out there, as I said I have no idea what to expect ! Do you ?

Think we'll do well to be play spots after ten games.

Teigngull Being a bit of a pedant, your 1st scenario is impossible! If we lose our first 10 games, we can not possibly only have a goal difference of -5! ;-)

Yep that's a fine point made there grockle.
Just shows how much research I put into it eh :slap:
However, my point is I have no idea what to expect, I'm still riding on the feel good factor the championship has brought, but am still aware being Torquay United fans , doing things, easy just don't happen.
In my defence I think the goals for & against column in scenario 1 should be t'other way round. :-D

Now the euphoria has died down a little, I think we must be realistic, I would not be too despondent with a points tally, after 10 games, to be anything around 14 or above!

I used to think that you could tell how the season was going to fan out by the end of September. But in recent times I've altered this to knowing by the end of August. Somewhere during the first three or four games you know in your gut how things will go; you either have that old heart-sinking feeling (which you deny), or you think 'this is great!' (as happened in August-September 1965).

...I don't think you were paying attention last season, Wivel.
