What it was REALLY like to be there (1965 Spurs game)
Here's an article I wrote for Torquay's Other History:

Spurts ? may want to edit that =Z My long since late grandad gave me a programme, match ticket and newspaper cutting he'd kept from the game. Sadly I put it in a very safe place during a house move and not sure where it is, hoping next time I might a find it, would love to pass it to the football club, and will if I ever find it.

Great article wivel thanks for posting. Heady days my friend. I had only just turned 7 years old and didnt make the game. My Grandad and Uncle did, I have the programme and the Herald paper with pink insert but boy do I wish I had been there. You`re a lucky guy.

wivel I was at the game with my late Dad who was a Liverpudlian. He rarely came to Plainmoor but even he was excited on that famous day.
A never to be forgotten day. I travelled by train to London for the replay and was on local TV (Westward TV?) as they filmed us getting on the train at Torquay Station.
10 minutes from White Heart Lane and a cloudburst caused the match to be postponed but I returned the following week to see us lose 5-1.
Everything about football has changed so much since those far off days.
If you think about it it is quite extraordinary.
No substitutes, no added time, no 4th official, no yellow or red cards, heavy leather balls, very different boots compared to today,no extra time in FA Cup games, different rules for Goalkeepers, 2-3-5 formation( 2 full backs, 2 wing halves with a centre half and 5 forwards!!)
I think I had better stop.
Great days.

Sorry and I hope I'm not subject bombing this subject but I'm sure people who respond might have memories of the Leeds game in about 1955. I'm positive my dad who has and does support torquay and has been attending games for the last 65 years told me he bunked off school to go to plainmoor for loud speaker updates from elland road. So I'm assuming this game was played during the week daytime !!!
