Well, here we are at the end of January and we are still within touching distance of survival. Indeed, we have three points more than I thought we would have when I last offered a view on our league position in mid-December.

Now we have come to the end of a seriously challenging run of fixtures against the better sides in the division we need to start picking up wins in February. If we don't then I think we will be able to kiss goodbye to national football by the end of the month.

The fat lady must now be exercising her vocal chords.
