How that's worked is we've taken out the sh*t players who added nothing (Briscoe, Heslop etc) and brought in a couple of players who can do their job. Which has produced some decent performances, albeit the results are no better, but progression is being made. We now have the funds to bring in 1 decent striker, who could give us that regular goal a game to push us out of the relegation zone.

If we keep playing the way we have, and score a couple of goals, we could build some momentum and go on a run to get us out of this mess.

Love this progression being made stuff and it's 3 straight league defeats and 1 win in 12. Don't care about the trophy we won't win it and it matters precisely zero for our season.

But still at least progress is being made, at this progressive rate we should be relegated by late Feb/early March.

We're Torquay United, the least fancied, least fashionable, geographically least attractive and probably lowest paying club in the Conference. We have no training ground and we're in the relegation zone with the worst GD in the division. We have a rookie manager and a Chairman with 15 minutes experience.

If a better player was available, why in the name of God's left testicle would he come here? Why would Dover, with their unlimited budget, proximity to London, private jet etc not simply sign that guy instead?

The money we have received will go to Thea and to paying our gas bill. We needn't sign another low quality squad filler, that's just a waste. Keep what little money we got for him and plug on with what's in the building. If we stay up, kudos. If we go down, fold the club and phoenix into the South Devon League, which is where a club of our finances really ought to be.

Struggling along on life support is no fun. I'd rather see us operating sustainably and prospering on the pitch at a local level than I would see us going through what we're experiencing now. For proof, see the fun BAFC fans are having this year.

I have quickly glanced through today's posts and I don't think anyone has mentioned the likely involvement of an agent. Most of the posts read as if Marsh has thought all of this out for himself but he is probably an impressionable kid being easily led by someone who is making a few bob for himself. Lots of young footballers have their careers messed up by agents who are looking after themselves rather than their clients.
Remember the Toby Ajala saga last summer. He couldn't wait to move on and six months later when it all went belly up he came back. Has Ajala not told Marsh how grim Dover is?
Levi Ives was another who couldn't escape quick enough and where is he now? Back in Belfast.
I do think we should give Nico some credit for turning free transfess into saleable assets though - there is even talk of us getting good folding stuff for Angus. At least last summer Angus was sensible and quickly signed a contract e tension with us because he didn't want to spend the summer waiting for the phone to ring - his words not mine.

I haven't said this often Brucie, but you are dead right. Letting Marsh leave at the end of January when the club is next to bottom is an incompetent abject failure of the worst kind. I don't care if he wanted to go, I don't care if an agent filled his head with bullshit, we should have kept him to his contract right up to the end of the season. He wouldn't have wanted to fail if we had kept him to his contract, because he says he is "ambitious". Our club has been screwed over, poor management, poor leadership and total incompetence.

Bollocks. He'd be playing for a contract next season, he'd have to put some effort in to keep other clubs interested. If we kept hold of him and he went on strike/played shite then it could well have put Dover and other clubs off him. He wasn't exactly in great demand last summer despite his scoring record, thus why we were able to sign him very early in the pre-season.

He offered a different option, pace and could score when he played well. He was worth keeping. It's bollocks to say that he'd play awful for the rest of the season because we prevented him moving by six months.

I've no right to comment on the plight of TUFC but with this unbelievable post from Matt I feel I have to.

Unbelievable not that it's bullshit but unbelievable in the sense that every word of it is 100% spot on to the last detail. TUFC will be relegated. The club as we know it is finished and has been for a while now. It's actually a really sad negative opinion which I know most don't appreciate but in this case it is likely to become reality unless an experienced manager comes in, some new players come in and some more money is made available for a tad better calibre of player (even if they could be tempted to come given the circumstances). If these 3 were possible then a Halifax type situation maybe possible but as it is an 10 point deficit (goal difference) is far far too much. Spot on Matt. Reality not negativity.

Spot on. If a player refuses to play and shouts and screams his way into forcing a move I fail to see how anyone can say that we've done the wrong thing here. I'm surprised at some of the people on this thread who can't see the reality of the position we were put in by the player and his agent. We got the best deal we could in the circumstances. Look out for a player from Nottingham coming in as a replacement.
