One of the most honest comments in response to the abysmal performance on Saturday was that if it had happened last year the forum would have been calling for the directors' and the manager's heads.
Now my personal feeling is the last thing we need as a club is any comparisons whether that be between this board and the last or this manager and the last.
We need basics.
We have a manager but we also seem to have an assistant and I am not even sure how many others. Given that money is short appointing a manager who demanded an assistant seems daft. We need money for players not for people who will neither score nor save goals.
We have various rumours doing the rounds as to who is getting paid what and by whom and the sooner the board open up what is going on the better.
They have closed the membership and by all accounts taken the money into the general pot. Whilst I agree that taking legal action against such a move would be bad for the club it just goes to show the naivety of those who "took over" without checking what was to take over and without making sure they use what they can legally.
Re the players fund. My inkling is that what has been pledged is paying for existing wages possibly even including the last management team whose departure was not handled properly and who still have to be paid.
Mr Breed clearly still reads the forum hence the shave but he cut a lonely figure and even gave up watching from his seat during the second half. Be honest or that seat will get more lonely. If we are that short of cash - which I think we are tell it how it is but if Dean Edwards is on forty thousand how about looking at that first. Not many of the fans are....
The fans do love the club which is more than can be said for the team given their performance on Saturday. Yes Luke young is out but if exodus is a captain he did not show it on the pitch, no communication, no organisation unlike the opposing captain who did well to ensure his team didn't get pulled apart when they went a man down.
The fans will back and support but they need to know what they are backing and they need to feel that the team want to back it to
Its the end of August. We are the wrong end of the league. On a cold wet Tuesday night we wont get 1100 if the team play like Saturday because around these parts its a lot of money to pay out to get cold and depressed for players who earn two or three times that of the supporters and give the impression that they don't care.
So come on board, be honest, say what the actual state of affairs is with wages and get rid of those we don't need because we can't afford people who are not bringing income and players bring income by entertaining.

But I thought that they set out to keep it to the basics.

I agree with Lloyder5.

Seems to me like yet another tortuous grumble, based on yet more unsubstantiated assumptions.

Let's keep it simple:

1. The fans go to matches and support the team with all the energy and noise they can muster. That's their job.
2. The team plays the game to the best of its ability after appropriate training and coaching. That's their job.
3. The manager, using his knowledge and experience, selects the team and motivates and instructs the players as to tactics, etc..
4. The CEO and directors manage the finances and the general running of the club to ensure a sustainable future for the club.

Or, to put it another way:

1. The CEO and directors manage the finances and the general running of the club to ensure a sustainable future for the club.
2. The manager, using his knowledge and experience, selects the team and motivates and instructs the players as to tactics, etc..
3. The team plays the game to the best of its ability after appropriate training and coaching. That's their job.
4. The fans go to matches and support the team with all the energy and noise they can muster. That's their job.

That's it. Simple. :)

Can only assume from that post that the username little gull is most apt. My betting is that it was written by a 5 year old ffs.

Perhaps we shouldn't be too hard on our friend. We don't want to frighten any newcomers away. It is an honestly held opinion, if somewhat wide of the mark. And I've seen posts from more experienced posters which have merited as much, if not more, disagreement.

The main thing is that we go to games and support the team. Otherwise why should the team make the effort. Nobody should expect brilliance in every game, certainly not at Plainmoor, given the turn of events over the spring and summer. Mr Cox is still in the process of putting together a cohesive team, which will take time.

If we find ourselves near the play-off positions come the end of the season, that will be a bonus.

We need to keep in mind that Paul Cox usually gets his team really going after Christmas. If I am not mistaken that is the history in his other clubs. So I wouldn't worry just yet :)

Today, despite another loss, I've had a great day out, loved the atmosphere in the ground, great to see so many TUFC fans there. These moments would not have been possible if it hadn't been for Steve Breed, Dean Edwards and the new board.

I will be grateful for a long, long time that thanks to these people we still have a club, we still have national league football, and a chance to push back into football league in future. Does that put in perspective for anyone.

Look at it like this:

Our starting 7 games, they were akin to those of Kiddiminster, Lincoln, Aldershot and Boreham wood. Compare this to the promotion chasing teams.

I would also guess that somewhere between 10% and 15% of our budget is being given to Hargreaves and Hodges this season.

Our squad, with many new additions was hastily put together just in time to start the new season. Reports being that the budget was half that of last season.

Lose Luke Young ( skipper and talisman) for the season, with further disruptions for injuries for the likes of Fairhurst, Hurst and Briscoe to some extent.

Add a couple of sh*te performance from the officials and you can understand where we are In league.

It wouldn't also be a surprise to me to find out that we are putting out, on average, the lowest aged match day squad in his league for some years.

Lets stick together and keep the support going!
Life is like TUFC. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. :goal:

Blimey!! Only played 7 games and I'm sure most people would have taken our start!!

We have a club first and foremost. We have a manager held in high regard and who has won this league!!

We were not going to win every game. We still have a young team who are still learning and getting to know each other!

I know we all want to be winning games but I'm afraid this year we are going to have to take deep breaths and accept that there are going to be some rough times performance wise!

I'm in no doubt though we will get there and we have the right structure at the club to get us there!!

We don't need to know what wages are available or who's on what wage. All we need to worry about is supporting our team and giving them all we can give.

They have saved the club and will make sure we are a stable and well run club. The rest will follow after that and we will be fine!!

In response to Little Gull's scattergun rant against Dean Edwards, Chris Fleet, the manager, the assistant manager, the players - virtually anyone connected with the running of the club, Forever's post gives a true PERSPECTIVE on our season. There was a time when we didn't think we would even have a club so I'm truly grateful to Dean Edwards and the consortium that has taken over the reins. They are sensibly running the club on a 'break even' gate of 1800 instead of expecting Thea Bristow to act as Lady Bountiful by propping up the club to the tune of £2000 per month. I believe they have appointed an excellent management team and Paul Cox has managed to bring in a promising group of young players on one year contracts, unlike Knill who made poor signings on hefty two year contracts.

Yes - the gates may well fall below 1800 if there are many performances like the Cheltenham match but I suspect Mr Cox will make bloody sure that doesn't often happen ! His after match interview was refreshingly honest and I think that reflects his character. And another thing - this time last season we had enough cards to make up a full pack. Apart from one silly red card, the team is much more disciplined this season. That also reflects on Paul Cox's attitude to the game. So let's not get carried away by negativity. If we're as low as 17th at the end of September, then it might be time to get a little concerned. But like Forever, I am enjoying this season and I feel optimistic for the future. I really think the club is going in the right direction again.

To sum up little gull - you are a massive shit-house!

Want a little perspective do you? - HERE YOU GO! - The budget Cox has this year would have been in the bottom 4 of budgets for all teams competing in last years league.

Posts like yours only serve to cause damage to a club which a few months ago would have gone altogether.

Full respect from me to those who saved this club and I fully respect that the budget Cox is working with means we will experience performances such as the Cheltenham one. The damage done by the Phillips era will take years to recover from - and those writing such glorious insights as you (after only a handful of games) are nothing short of ignorant.

If Cox keeps us up this year, the attendances average to at least 1800 and the board can get the books back in line then brighter days are ahead for us all but right now we need to hunker down and come together in order to survive the sh1t storm which is a result of times past.
