allardyce and holloway at torquay?

in the sunday times yesterday in the report on blackpool v blackburn it mentioned a game where allardyce had broken holloways toe at torquay, i cant remember either of them ever playing for us? does anyone have any knowledge of this match or has the reporter erred??

oddly the report i linked to has removed the words "at torquay" so it seems it was an error, it was definately in the printed edition yesterday i swear!!

it seems olly was on loan at plainmoor in the 80s, i cant remember that at all?

Sorry to butt in on your conversation Bix, but I'd previously seen that he'd been on loan here - there was a bit on the Bees forum ages ago about him as he was or had been a Bee prior to coming to Plainmoor. Before my time as a Gull tho'.

It was most probably during the Fourth Division game at Plainmoor between United (for whom Holloway was playing at no.11) and Preston North End (for whom Allardyce was playing as captain) on the 21st of Feb 1987. A game we lost 2-0 in the season Preston gained promotion.

I do remember Ian Holloway playing for us in mid 80's i would guess at 86 ish he was on loan from Brentford or Wimbledon.
There is a good chance of it happening because i sure i have seen him play center half for PNE .
