A shame, but has looked inevitable given the financial position of the club. Berry is, in my view, better than Conference standard, and whilst it makes no difference in tangible terms, I hope that he is League 2-bound as I believe his efforts here warrant another crack at that level.

Looks like Cheltenham are interested
We had the chance to sign him but took too long.

Well it seems like Woking (with a smaller fan base than us - although perhaps wealthier!) managed to raise £10,000 towards the Manager's playing budget! Fantastic achievement and just shows what can be achieved whe everyone at the club is "connected" .... sadly I don't think we have that at our football club just now.

Perhaps this Crowdfunder should be offered to James McQuilkin given that he's not being paid a penny according to Hargreaves. He'll be a bit cheaper than Berry too!

HRMC and the DWP Stasi will be all over him like a rash if he comes into cash.

Signed by Paul Buckle's Cheltenham.

Shame I guess, but it's hard to blame the lad for going for a certain length contract at a higher level than us.

His twitter profile shows him to be a personal trainer as well as a pro footballer.eastmoorgull wrote:Good luck to him, he showed signs of real quality and grit.................what's Tong's status at the moment?
I really think we need to get a grip on this. Players need to be told they work for Torquay United only. We seem to have more and more players with second jobs, whether it be selling 'Herbal Life' or moonlighting as personal trainers. It should not be allowed. Concentrate on the job you are paid to do as a full-time professional or bugger off.

Tonge's status as I understand it : injured & needs an operation. The 'second job' is usually the 'safety net' that will go from 'pottering' status to full-time when their football career is over..unless they can get into coaching &/or management/sports commentary.
