Support your local team

Post by frenchgull »

I can not believe that there are still people that, because of last season are still not going to plainmoor to support our team.Sure the last couple of seasons have been dire, team, management and board, but now we have a new YOUNG team,in the main, which are trying their hearts out to play the right football and improve theirs and Torquays lot,I think its mean spirited to stay away because you think you where screwed last season.Yesterday we had, just, the second best attendance in the conference, well behind Bristol,6000 odd, but for just 2 to 2100 fans to turn up is very disappointing, come on , we should have at least 2500 at Plainmoor,we have a good honest side that will make mistakes , they are young, and need your support,a fantastic start to the season, what do you want Real Madrid!!!.

WOW, didn't realise things had become that serious!

When was the game when only two supporters turned up?

I do. There is nothing better than a half a mile stroll to Erme Park to watch Ivybridge Town in the South Western Peninsula League Premier, with views of Dartmoor and the River Erme flowing gently past the pitch ... and if they are away or it happens to be summer there are equally spectacular settings at Cross in Hand the home of Ivybridge Rugby Club or Filham Park the home of Ivybridge Cricket Club.

Attendances are consistent. 200 to 300 at rugby, 70 to 125 at football, 50 to 75 at cricket. Plus the occasional dog, rabbit, and pheasant.

Anywhere you can walk to is local ;-)

It is sad to see so few attending matches but I have been following attendances around the league generally. and they are all down a bit. it's been a slow gradual decline for 3 or 4 years now. In fact since we last won the world cup its been a decline.
I also looked at Burtons gates as they are top of the division or where until yesterday. Imagine how depressing it is to be at the top of the tree and still only get 2300
Our gates will be better than theirs and we are a division lower.
