Where have you seen Torquay shirts or memorabilia?

Post by yeovilgull »

I was on holiday in Alcudia, Majorca last week and went into a bar where various football shirts were hanging on display. There proudly hanging between an Aston Villa shirt and Rangers shirt was a Yellow Torquay shirt from a few seasons back with Citylink on the front.

The bar was somewhat innappropriately called Champions!!

This got me thinking where else have fans seen TUFC shirts or other memorabilia? I was at a visit to my Daughter's school in Yeovil last night and there was a car in the car park with a little Torquay player stuck to the back window. He was in the current kit with WTS name on.

In this quiet time for news from TQ1 has anyone else any memories of seeing items in unexpected locations?

We donated one to a bar in Olu Deniz, Turkey. No reason to doubt it's still hanging up.

I stayed at a guest house in York a couple of years ago and was surprised to find a Torquay pennant on the wall. Owners were Torquay fans. I can't remember the name of the guest house or would recommend it here.

I would be very surprised if there isn't various memorabilia in pubs and other such venues in Torquay,Australia.

I once saw a child wearing a Torquay shirt at the Château de Fougères, in Brittany.

I handed my Torquay shirt to the beach towel boy in Makadi Bay, Egypt a couple of years ago. On the last day he wore it and had photo's taken with the kids.

To my knowledge that's the first African supporters branch.....

Not quite in the spirit of the thread, but my flag has been on the Great Wall of China and the Bund, inside the Forbidden City and on Tiananmen Square. My hat has been to those places and plenty more.

I saw a bloke wearing a Torquay shirt in South Africa once...

...it was me, looking in a mirror. But I did get to teach some Londoners about us and they ended up standing with the Gulls fans against D&R a couple years later.

I have left shirts and scarves in:
Oviedo, Spain
Santiago, Spain
Saint Petersburg, Russia
Yaroslavl, Russia,
Nizhny Novgorod, Russia
Moscow, Russia
Mizhvodne, Crimea

I also bumped into a Torquay supporting priest from Buckfastleigh in Santiago de Compostela.

My girlfriend is off around Asia soon (borefest) so I'll load her up with torquay odds and sods to give to the kids out there.

I also used to live on Old Tiv Road in Exeter (right next to SJP) and had a full Torquay get up in our bay windows for two years :)
