Does anybody what kind of deals we have the players on and who will still be with the club next season providing they aren't released or sold?
The only players I would offer new deals (not that some would accept) are;
Rice .. Improved so much since he returned and is a lot more vocal.
Pearce .. For me, our most consistent defender, some may argue.
Bodin .. May produce against lesser quality next season (we'd hope). There is talent there, we just need to find it.
Cameron .. I think people forget his age, I think if he played in a team that won a few more his confidence would enhance his ability no end.
Chapell .. I can't understand why he doesn't play week in week out, he'll want to leave anyway but I think we could do some damage to teams next season.
Yeoman .. No need to say why really but we've been told he's the best finisher we've had at the club for about 5 years, how about make him first choice?
Thompson .. Potential, still young, worth a shot.
Cruise .. Same a Thompson really.
Now some may argue that I haven't got Downes in there but that's because I think Downes hasn't shown that he's a good footballer or defender. It's all right raving about a good performance once every 6 weeks but I've never been confident with him at the back as a leader which I think might be justified after nearly one and a half seasons of crap defending.

Dreaming Of Promotion ..
Some of those are already under contract for next year but whether they have relegation release clauses is unknown.

I look at our squad that we have and see it as a good non league side. Alot of them players could be good at conference level.
Rice
crusie
tonge
lathrope
bodin (inless we get a bid)
Harding (maybe)
Benyon
Cameron
Chapel
That could make a good base for a squad. Im not saying starting 11, but if we got some good players in there we could have a decent conference team.
Whats the chances of branno joining us in the non league. Not sure if he could offer much now but I imagine he would be on the phone trying his best.

I believe this is an up to date list of contracted players.

Rice and Pearce would be no brainers. Downes I think would do a lot better in the conference, ok there are some good sides but there are also likely to be some dog awful sides too so overall he'd be an asset.Gazzableedsgull wrote:Does anybody what kind of deals we have the players on and who will still be with the club next season providing they aren't released or sold?

Bodin can go. I find it funny how some have said he will only play better when playing in a better team with better players and the reason he has struggled is because of this. I'm sure Karl Hawley would knock in shitloads of goals for Man City too. If this IS the case however then he would struggle even more in the conference wouldn't he? On the flip side he could be just so much better than conference level that he could excel even though we currently play in a league made up of largely conference standard teams anyway. I don't want to end up struggling in the conference and still waiting for this talent to emerge. We need to move on and move forwards without Billy and I'm sure from his point of view a fresh challenge might see him recover his dignity as a pro.
Cameron possibly, don't rate him as yet but perhaps. Chappell surely? Yeoman at a push. Thommo definitely and it's a big NO to Cruise.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.
