Quite a staggeringly pointless addition IMO although like all new arrivals should and will get a great welcome.
This lad is a defensive minded player who can play in midfield too according to reports. Strange because the way I see it we need to start scoring more than a few goals per month and not adding someone like Cargill with all due respect to the lad. Plus he is 18. Many fans still blame age as the reason why Bodin is still shit so expecting the earth from a lad 4 years younger (which is essentially why we've signed him I presume otherwise the point is?) is insanity.
We need pace and to play a high pressing game every week. Plus we need goalscorers so we can win games of football. We've had none of these for ages now and so adding Cargill is quite bizarre. Yes we need to tighten up at the back too but say we keep a clean sheet or three from now until the end of the season, we probably won't score in those games either so we get draws or maybe the odd win.
Like Forever says, one last roll of the dice. If this is it then I'm sure CH has a few other surprises up his sleeves other than Cargill. If not then it's the funniest thing since watching lotto winner Michael Carroll lose all his dough.
Wow.

Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Good luck to the lad anyway and I hope everything turns out the way he wants.

Slightly strange signing, not least because he currently has a "minor groin injury" which is likely to keep him out for 7-10 days so he will miss the Southend game and quite possibly the Scunthorpe game too ... according to his Manager Eddie Howe.

If you don't score goals, you don't win football matches. Pearce has been superb, Downes has been very good, Tonge has been good and Nicholson hasn't been awful. We don't have the players up front who can score goals.

Played the majority of his games on loan at Welling at left-back so maybe he'll dislodge Nicholson from the team.

Tonge has been average at best, good is laughable
Nicholson will do his best going forward but defense wise is past it and seeing as Cooper doesn't ever seem to be fit it's a wise area to strengthen

The lad will get warm welcome Rich that goes with out saying. He's an 18 year old lad trying to make a career for himself, every young lad in that position trying to make their way into football has my best wishes, he wasn't going to turn a chance to get some senior first team experience under his belt, none of our problems are his fault.
As far the signing of an inexperience defender, well, what can I say, what a joke signing , we've got our own 18 year old defenders out on loan, who ever made decision hang your head in shame, I've been a very harsh critic of Nicho this season and rightly so, however of late he his performances have been ok, he's not got any quicker but has been doing a decent enough job back there.
Defence wasn't the priority, every Torquay fan however knowledgeable about football can see it a mile off , we get into good positions no one in the box, when we get in there chance after chance goes begging, today was the day, identify a list of potential proven goal scorers ( and before you say it, Buckle managed to get Gavin Tomlin down here, so save your breath ) Make the calls, find out if any are available for a loan move and cost, work the finance, do the deal. 6 god for saken points, add a proven goal scorer that gap was doable , yes it would have a big ask, but could have been pulled off, no striker last chance gone, thanks a million.

If we aren't paying much of his wages then it could be a useful thing to have a look at him, even if he doesn't play much over the next month. He's 18, had a loan spell in the Conference South and is highly rated at Bournemouth, where he will have worked with Hargreaves. Much like Goodwin, a season long loan next season might be an excellent way for us to get some quality in the squad on a reduced budget. It reduces the risk of taking a punt on an untried youngster and then sending them back without playing, as we did with Rudge, O'Brien and Wilkinson.
That's a very fair point Gulliball, however to me the priority was to stay in league, seems to me as if the club have already given up and are setting up for the conference though, what does that say about us as a club.

We have enough players at the Club already, they are not preforming as a team. Another few loan signings on top of the ten or so we've made since January won't change anything, we simply have to go on a run of wins until the end of the season. Atkins did it without any signings, we have to do the same again.
A truly inspirational signing, personally I would have shipped out a couple of loanies and brought in an experienced striker / playmaker but I'm no league 2 manager. It just shows you that not everyone can be a manager. I don't think I could ever pass the coaching badge in order to qualify.
I wonder what the next move will be?
Got it!
Let's bring in someone to operate the remote control for our big TV. That's got to be enough to keep us up.

If you cannot see that what we DONT need is to strengthen our defence and what we DO need is to improve our (non-existent) attacking force because we create chances (sometimes) and don't have anyone who can put it in the back of the net, then you really do need some understanding.
