Fair enough, your probably right they are too good for this level(Craig at least). Surprised we got them on loan.bengull wrote:My apologies, I did not mean to mock or put your club down, or compare to Bideford in truth. Clumsily worded on my part- I just think Conference South is still too low for players of their calibre. Still, so it is, I hope they both do well for you and best of luck for the rest of the season.
Craig and Yeoman to Dorchester
Hi Tom, was going to say Ben is a genuine lad, but hey he's answered it for himself, what impressed me watching that video , despite the pitch resembling a ploughed field your team looked to continue to pass the ball around not be tempted as many sides ourselves included v Northampton to pass long/hit forward in hope.

I think it's a good loan move for Yeoman. If he can play regularly in the Conference South and score goals then he might prove that he's worth keeping on as a development option next season, especially if we are in the Conference ourselves. He won't be getting a game here anytime soon with four loanee forwards plus Benyon and Hawley ahead of him, so regular football at a good level will benefit him. He is 22 later this month, so it's make or break for him pretty soon.
Nathan Craig on the other hand should be offered a new deal and kept at Plainmoor, and given a starting place sooner rather than later.

Tom, where can I get an accurate DTFC fixture list? (Yes, I'm being extremely lazy).

I don't want to knock an argument in favour of Craig, but he has played almost 10 times as many games for us as Yeoman has. If anyone isn't being given a chance here...

I think Craig suffers from a very old British football disease. Managers simply don't trust talented players to play through the middle. They feel pressure to include skilful players but want 'hard-workers' in the middle so play them out wide, even when it's not their best position. Hell, look at Mata at ManU, one of the best attacking central midfielders in the country but more often than not is played as a winger!

ferrarilover wrote:The thing is Jeff, he doesn't just look good in reserve games, he looks like he's on a totally different level. He's been chucked into a poor side to play out of position and, accordingly, he's done badly. I've spoken to plenty of people (managers, players, coaches etc) who have said that Nathan's lack of first team action isn't through a lack of talent.
Stick him among a decent set of players with strikers and wingers who give him something to aim for and he'll stand out. This is the primary difference with the reserves. Because they're all playing without fear and with a brief to impress, they run themselves silly. The kids these days don't stand still at any stage during a game. Oneill Odofin (that's probably not spelt correctly) covers more ground from CB in the Youth than Bodin does for the first team. Craig loves it. He is what made that Baker kid from Wheel Power look so good. He's what makes Cruise look so good, he's what gets us so many goals in the reserve.
Of course, he's not perfect, I'm not saying he's all that much better than L2 (presently), but what he does have is the hard bit. He's got the talent, a talent which only God (to appease Joe and others) can give him. Strength and power can be bought with gym time and protein shakes. Positional sense comes with game time. I desperately hope he makes it with us, because, per Hector, I think he'll be a hell of an enemy if we let him go.

It hasn't taken long for the new manager to move Yeoman on and I fear that Skrill South is probably the best Ashley can hope for. Hopefully he can prosper there. However, Nathan Craig, to my mind is different. the last time I saw him play - possibly home v Plymouth - I thought he was our best player. There is something there with him and I hope we don't jettison him, as I think he has something to offer.

Craig and Yeoman weren't the only ones of our loaned out players to score at the weekend, young Danny Sullivan also scored a cracker, by all accounts, in a 1-0 win for Bideford over St. Albans.

I also see that we played a behind closed doors friendly with Plymouth earlier today and we drew 1-1 with a mixture of pros and youth team. Pleased to see that young Courtney Cameron got the equaliser, will hopefully do his confidence some good.
