Nice to see................
............the club coming up with a good incentive to get some fans through the door. For one game only this Saturday, any fan presenting a current season ticket for any Championship or Premiership club can gain entry for £5 less than the normal price.
They also are planning a "Yellow Day" for Kingsteignton, glad to see them trying out some good ideas.

Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

ditto, it still won't please some but I believe those at the club are doing the best they can - it's up to the public to respond.

Not knocking the club, but wouldnt a good idea to be anyone who has a ticket to either England game, gets the same discount. Dont know how many Prem and Champ supporters live near enough the bay, and how they'll find out. There are probably quite a few people in Devon and Cornwall who are going to one of the England games.
I assume you have an England ticket then Kernow?

I've got a ticket for the Germany game on Tuesday......but then I'm a ST holder too so what benefit do I get?
I'm bringing the family down on Saturday, can I bring them in for free?
How about the fickle public of Torbay get off their arses and make an effort? Just a thought..........

Not got an England ticket, just thought the promo could go hand in hand. How many prem supporters season ticket holders would be interested and live close enough? I have no idea, but it would be more if they opened it up to people with England tickets too, and they are more likely to return than people with season tickets elsewhere.

Proof that those that run the club really are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

If someone going to Wembley lived close enough to be interested in attending Plainmoor, and wouldn't otherwise bother, then I don't believe a fiver discount would affect their choice.
The prem season ticket idea is (I'd humbly suggest) to try to convert them to their local professional team, by giving them a substitute when they can't make the journey to Old Trafford or what have you.
I like it.

Sounds a reasonable idea and I can see what the club are trying to achieve though I've no idea how many people it could apply to.
Not sure why they've limited it to Premiership and Championship. It shouldn't cost any more to open it to season tickets at other clubs. There may be ticket holders at clubs like Plymouth, Exeter or even the Bristol clubs who live in the Bay area who are interested enough in football at our level and may come along if a discount was available as a one off. Though I'd make them hand over their season tickets until after the game and only give them back if they shouted for the Gulls!!
Whilst the Premiership and Championship holders are probably targeted as potential switchers to watching a local side, the others could bring in a few extra pounds for the club Without any additional cost.

Maybe its because there's no games in those leagues, being an "international" weekend??yeovilgull wrote:Not sure why they've limited it to Premiership and Championship. It shouldn't cost any more to open it to season tickets at other clubs.

But surely if they targeted people who don't already have an affiliation to a club already it may bolster future attendances. Also what about future fans?Scott Brehaut wrote:Proof that those that run the club really are damned if they do and damned if they don't.
That's what the Kingsteignton day is trying to do, YM. If it works then it'll be branched out to other areas; Teignmouth/Shaldon, Dawlish, Chudleigh, Newton Abbot etc.
Our catchment area isn't far off Exeter's so it's just a case of trying to get them in, which this approach will hopefully do. Obviously it isn't going to see an extra 500 people through the gates for the Kingsteignton day, but even if it's an extra 50/100, it all helps. What makes it harder is that we cannot win at Plainmoor to save our lives at the moment.

So how do I find out about this promotion? I cant even see it on the clubs website, and have also searched bbc, twitter and facebook. If I cant find it when im looking for it, how is a potential person who might take the offer up going to find it? It needs to be marketed if its going ro work, in places where Premiership fans who dont care about Torquay are likely to bd looking.
Agreed it is nice to see, and I know us fans appreciate and support all efforts from the club to boost attendances. Agree with Nick, having a yellow day in places like Kingsteignton , Dawlish and Teignmouth etc is a fantastic idea, as we all know you can get to Exeter just as quick, if not quicker so having a presence in these areas from our club is a good thing.
My only bug bear is e-mails, just can not understand why the club can't send them out, last week I knew that Bristol Rovers were having a kids for a quid promotion for their FA cup game against York, I know all about the latest updates on their new ground, and know when they are having family days at their ground, why. Simple, they have my e-mail address, and I receive e-mails from them.
I congratulate the club on the twitter feed and facebook, however not everyone is on facebook or twitter, some are on neither, not everyone reads the paper now it's weekly or the O/S, the one thing almost everyone does is log into their e-mail accounts, and it is the most effective way to communicate not just with fans, but the wider community, collect e-mails addresses and start talking.
