Lost 4-2 I think Torquay brought their first team against City Reserves it was in August pre-season. There was about 2000 watching. I was a Reserve player who never quite made it.

I was a reserve and youth player for Torquay who didn't make it by miles! You can tell I don't know anything because I think Billy Bodin is a brilliant player (sorry Andy! !). Played against Bristol Rovers but not City. Favourite games were against Argyle. Played with Tommy Northcott mind

When this survey began, the over 70's were running (no - that should be hobbling) at about 14%. Now it's down to 7%. Gawd - we must be popping our clogs at a fast rate. Must daah off and get me flu jab !

What made you into a Torquay fan? Were a Bristol City fan?

Always supported west country teams moved here four years ago and enjoyed it. I was transfered to Swindon at 17 was retained at the end of the season untill Bert Head was sacked. Danny Williams came in as manager and all things changed and had to look for a club. A bit like Knill he's overlooked several players and will not give them a chance. Did have season ticket at City.

I like Bodin as well he's got good balance and can beat a player he suffered last season when Ling was not about. Then Knill came in, you have to remember he's still young living away from home.
I would have kicked him up the b---side last season as it looked as though he did not want to be here. This season he's been one of the better players and last week against Mansfield he was excellent untill he was taken off, which I think Knill got wrong.

Which year was that as when I played against Plymouth, Malcom Allison was manager. I expect you were better than you let on, as I like Bodin as well. All this brings back memories.

33 in a couple of weeks, first game Sat 22nd Feb 1992 (credit statto.com) vs Darlington 3-0. Actually got hooked on following Torquay some months earlier during our successful play off run, culminating in listening to the shootout with the radio under my pillow as it was well past my bedtime!

First football match somewhat earlier, October 1989, Gillingham v Chesterfield, also 3-0 to the home side. Not really relevant, just fancied sharing that!

23, first game was at Plainmoor, can't remember who, Rodney Jack was with us though.

Most of the games I went to were away games up to the 2009/10 season when I moved to Exeter for University, went to pretty much every home game for seasons 2009/10, 10/11, 12/13. During season 11/12 I was Preaching the good word of TUFC across Russia.

Sorry for delay Arcadia only just spotted your post. 1969 to 1971. In 1969/70 we played Plymouth Argyle in the FA Youth Cup. Irishman Billy Bingham was the manager of Argyle. Our manager was Allan Brown who had just taken over from Frank O'Farrell, and our youth team coach was Don Mills. We drew 1-1 at Plainmoor having held a second minute lead until 10 minutes from time when Argyle equalised with a penalty. Ian Twitchin nearly snatched it for us in the last minute but future Tottenham keeper Peta Ba'lac did a double save. In the replay the following week we again took the lead with a superb Phil Sandercock 30 yarder into the roof of the net at the Devonport End, but Argyle again equalised with about 10 minutes to go. Extra time and no further goals so a toss of the coin for venue saw us back at Home Park the following week where we lost 3-1. This was of course well before penalty kicks were introduced to settle cup ties. Bitterly disappointing at the time as we had been the better team in the first two games, but on reflection quite a good effort as the entire Argyle team consisted of full time or apprentice professionals. We had 2 apprentices, Phil Sandercock and Stuart McGowan, and the rest of us were amateurs with full time jobs, including Ian Twitchin and Robbie Robbins both of whom went on to play for the Gulls in the Football League.
