Not sure if a change of formation will work with us, but we do need to change our style of play. For me, it is way too central and we don't use the wingers enough. We hoof it up field, mess around with it in the air and end up losing it, or, we try and get it down after messing with it in the air and lose it. The amount of times I see a mammoth amount of space on the wing and there is no one there is incredibly frustrating. We have a lot of pace in our side; Chappell, Cameron, Azzy etc and we should use it effectively!

Love how some through this thread have totally over complicated this, cut to the chase 'wing backs' Trouble is, we all know AK is a 4-4-2/4-2-4 man he has built a squad to play that way, so I can't see who could do the wing back job.

Still think we should stick with the plan, when we have every one fully fit, things should improve, of they don't that's the time to reconsider what is or is not working right.

In addition to ensuring that players have athleticism and physical fitness (stamina, energy), footballing skills, and ability to work as a team, clubs should also be testing them for such things as spacial awareness, quick-wittedness and intelligence. Unfortunately, that would probably limit clubs to playing five-a-side..

To be fair Dave, we had everyone fully fit for the first 8 or 9 games and we were going backwards. It is also fair to say that all Knills loan signings have failed when you consider the number of points gained whilst they have been filling in.

I think this is just one of those situations where everyone has a different opinion on the best way forward but nobody is actually confident their opinion will have the desired effect. The upcoming 4 or 5 fixtures will define where we are heading or even if we can just simply hang on in there. Bury is nearly a must win, a draw would be acceptable given a decent promising performance. Rochdale at home in the cup isn't a must win but to get knocked out of all 3 cup competitions at the first hurdle is not going to further endear Knill to the Gulls fans. Accy away, same sentiments as Bury apply, Chesterfield at home will be a real test and I can take a loss with a competitive performance and we finish with Scunny away, another of Knills ex clubs who were smashed at York last night. We should be looking at winning 2 of those 3 away games. Games which won't come much easier in this division.

I'd say he's got this month to get some grit, passion, energy and structure into the side. Oh and some results too.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Yes - I agree that November could well be the month that defines our season. However, I think the Chesterfield game could prove to be the most likely game we will win because they seem to have hit a bad patch of form so perhaps a good time to play them. Bury and Accy will be difficult/scrappy games in my opinion and Scunthorpe seem to be blowing hot and cold - thrashed by York last night and by Exeter a couple of weeks ago. Then there's Rochdale - a Cup first round defeat would be a further setback for the club financially so it is almost a 'must win' game. Let's hope that by November 30th we will be more comfortably placed in the league. :-/

Chesterfield will be promoted IMO and each club that goes up hits a bad patch at some point. They haven't won in 6 league games but will rectify that with a confidence boosting win at home to Scunthorpe on Saturday, the following week they will annihilate Daventry Town in the FA Cup at the Proact and then they face us full of confidence and well back on track. We'll get destroyed by Chesterfield who will arrest a poor run of results at Plainmoor and so I just hope we can give it real go on the day. There will no points for us in that game i'm sad to say.

I'd take 2 away wins and win or draw in the FA Cup as a fair return from our next 5 games.

Having signed O'Connor for another month and with Downes now apparently fit, the big question is what will Knill do with O'Connor? - he can't have been signed to sit on the bench for another month. Presumably Knill isn't going to drop Tonge so quite interested to see what Knill is going to do.

For once Brucie I agree with Knill. It would be wise to have cover just incase Downes has a relapse. Do I get any credit from any of the endless list of people wishing to have a dig at me for this?

We've both overlooked the little matter of Plymuff on Nov 25th ...... A win would be good, but as it's a local derby, we'll probably have to settle for a draw. So SIX games in November :-/

See I like you tomo. :-D

I may get on your nerves but you can have a laugh and a joke and see in between the lines.

Lloyder5 also doesn't like many of my posts but he can accept a bit of fun and banter in response.

Using this site feels like a battle of wills quite often and it needn't be like that. Just lighten up a bit is what I say. Yeah we're sh*t, some moan and whinge but I know how to enjoy going to watch Torquay and I have a right laugh. Maybe some of you lost that enjoyment of going to Torquay win, lose or draw and are bringing this sterileness to the forum, I don't know to be honest.

COYY!! :scarf:

cheap flights to Southampton from December....£39 each way....looks like I my be spending some of my (hard earned) money coming over to see the mighty Gulls later in the year.

Given the cost involved, as long as whilst watching the game it feels like a win, I'll be happy :)

COYY!!
