Mackenzie was back training last week so whether he comes back in ?
I no way was I indicating we can cope with this team - just that it can be argued we have 2 players who hold professional contracts who can play at cente half.royalgull wrote:If we had 4 centre backs then Cruise wouldn't be playing there. 18 year old scholars simply do not count. If they did then we wouldn't be scurrying around for loans.

Semi positive news but when was the last time he was involved in competitive reserve team football - let alone the first team?supergulls wrote:Mackenzie was back training last week so whether he comes back in ?

For information, you can only seek a postponement if you have three players called up for international duty. Unfortunately, loan signings don't count towards the three. Those are the rules that we have to comply with.

WOW!
The hits just keep coming this year don't they.
Hope for an additional loan cover at centre half and some positive news on the disastrous injury front.

Yep but if that was the case then Knill would play them, the fact he played cruise and then got a loan with neither on the bench suggests he doesn't think they're ready and so to say well we've got 4 centre halves is nonsense. But I suppose they looked good against the royal marines so no idea why they don't start every game.........Richinns wrote: I no way was I indicating we can cope with this team - just that it can be argued we have 2 players who hold professional contracts who can play at cente half.
You can blame Knill for not having 3 senior centre backs, don't need 4 and can't carry 4 at our level but 2 + someone like O'Connor should be the minimum. Cost us the last 2 games and will cost us Saturday without another new signing.

Mackenzie isn't a scholar anymore he's 20 years old now he would have been playing without doubt. It's not a case of him not being ready it was a case of him being ill through diabetes which unless you had a crystal ball nobody could have predicted.

Well that's sad news for him, lets hope he gets through that. He's played 2 games in the first team ever? And went out on loan to some pub outfit last year? but yep he's definitely ready for the 1st team.
Seriously need to forget about these young lads, absolute cack to a man.

I don't want to rile you further Royal as it seems you got out the wrong side of the bed this morningroyalgull wrote:Well that's sad news for him, lets hope he gets through that. I would rather see Mackenzie getting games as third choice centre-half than another Macdonald on loan sitting on the bench costing wages and then going home at the end of the season.
Hutchings and Sullivan are earmarked as future income providers. Should this bear fruit then they become essential to us.

We were recently paid fifty grand by a Premier League club for some kid we'd had for about a week. But yeah, all our kids are cack.
Mackenzie came into the first team last year and made L2's top scorer look like Mr Blobby on skates. But yeah, all our kids are cack.
Our reserves, featuring a number of youth teamers who are now first team age got to the final of the reserve league a couple of years ago. But yeah, all our kids are cack.
For **** sake, some people seem happiest when they're knocking the club and celebratory when pontificating about how badly we're doing.
Matt.

i would rather us field the best possible side available. If that means our youngsters great but it doesn't so no I'd rather see a decent loan in all honesty.PhilGull wrote: I don't want to rile you further Royal as it seems you got out the wrong side of the bed this morningbut would you not rather see our own youngsters being given the opportunity rather than more loan signings?

Reading sold Shaun Allaway to Leeds at 16 for £1million. How well did he do?
Not a single football league appearance and last seen playing at Staines.
our reserve teams are getting smashed by the reserve teams of other football league sides but we want them in our first team to play first team of said sides?
our youth players (who are on the cusp of the 1st team) all joined us at 15/16 after Exter and Plymouth had free reign of the local area after years of us not having a youth team....these are the ones they didn't want.
Whenever we try and gain one of our 'promising youngsters' experience why is it not a single BSP club ever want them? why do they always end up at Bideford, Truro, Weymouth, Tiverton etc?

Yeah a typical comment from a know nothing !! As Matt said we were offered 50k rising to 60 on appearances for one of our crack to a man youngsters when was the last time we sold one of our older players for 60k. Going back to Mackenzie he would have played more games last year but unlike this year Saah and Downsey were rarely injured and then it was decided to bring in Macdonald who was no better than kirtys.royalgull wrote:Well that's sad news for him, lets hope he gets through that. I can understand that people are a bit negative at the moment but slating our youngsters that are at the beginning of their career and saying forget about them and cack to a man is truly disgusting. Im sure that if these young lads who haven't been at fault for the recent results, were to read some of the shit that is put on here they must be thinking why would I ever want to play for a team with complete divs as supporters. I'm sure Kirtys father would be so pleased to hear those comments.
Good point. I think we have another two years before a kid who has been with us since 8 or 9 will graduate from the youth team.royalgull wrote:Reading sold Shaun Allaway to Leeds at 16 for £1million. How well did he do?
