Dipping Into The Loan Market?

Post by nickbrod »

Alan Knill is quoted in Sunday's Football League paper in the Rochdale match report as follows: "We're looking at the loan market right now. It's just that at the moment we're at the top of our budget, so we need to be a little bit creative."
Anybody know anything about this? To my knowledge this is a new direction from Knill as after the Fleetwood flop his response on Radio Devon was negative when asked about loanees.

I'm in the dark too nick, the last I heard Knill was quoted as saying words to the effect of he wasn't going to be bringing anybody in on loan. I certainly wouldn't turn my nose up and a fresh face or two but when we have the players already that just aren't being used properly then it would be a tad unnecessary IMO.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

He said this in the Janner Indy as well.

The fact this the current squad is 'top of budget' is a little worrying as well.

With only 2500 coming through gates its not surprising unlike the Greeks 4000 or so and the 6700 who turn up to watch the Gaws. And they complain about having no money !!

...but not surprising, in my opinion.

I would say that the likes of Harding, Hawley, Pearce and even the likes of Chapell, Benyon and Cameron won't have come cheap. I have voiced my concerns before, and with Scunny and Bury fans claiming that Knill overspending was some of the cause of their financial woes, I am a tad wary of him doing the same here. While we all want success on the pitch, running the club into debt and financial insecurity isn't the way to do it. If Mozika is coming then I highly doubt he is cheap either, with the term "mercenary" thrown around by Bury fans when he left.

The downside of all this is that because we are a footballing outpost and Knill has persuaded all of his signings to move to the area, I'd say it is highly likely that he has promised them all first team football, which has allowed for some complacent performances. I just hope that Knill has the balls to mix it up because at the moment we are no better than last season, which is alarming. I also understand that this point isn't really relevant to the topic, but oh well.

Bloody hell Nick! This never even crossed my mind but now you mention it I can see it makes sense and is a bit worrying to be honest. I hope this is not the case but you may have a point there.

He will definitely be shipping a couple out at least. One of those to depart will scupper Matt's idea of replacing Harding :)

It's completely the wrong thing to do, and I'm hearing massively conflicting things from all sorts of different people (including the man himself). Sadly, Craig is prime to go out on loan and he would be happy to do that, but if we continue to plough on with Harding and Manse in the middle, then we might as well resign our Football League membership now.

I think this probably signals the end of Ball, both from our point of view and his. We will send him back when his youth loan runs out and he will be stacking shelves by Christmas. I'm still pissed off with Ballmouth, they spent all summer promising us Stockley, then gave him to someone else VERY late on.

Yeoman has been told he can go out on loan, some of the players that will be going out on loan in the next couple of weeks are for varying reasons, some because knill doesn't fancy them, some to aid their devolpment.

I hope Yeoman goes somewhere and starts banging in the goals. I guess it will be Conference or lower for Craig and Yeoman. I can't for the life of me understand what Knill is trying to do though. Is he going to persist with the same eleven that are crap every week?
I guess Ball has to go - he has a bit of potential maybe, but is another player who needs a run at a conference team really.
Where did Stockley go incidentally?

Blimey Tezza, it's rare for you to be the more optimistic of the two of us about [anything] a player.

Stockley went to Orient on loan for a month.

Leyton Orient which is a strange one when lisbie and mooney are scoring for fun as they sit top of the league. He is on a months loan but also finds himself behind Sean batt who arrived from millwall and scores a hat trick in his last outing against gillingham. So he's 4th choice at the moment but his loan spell runs out at the same time as balls so fingers crossed.

It's an odd one, I'll grant you that. Stockley is no mug, he's highly rated at Ballmouth. Both Howe (who is well in with Knill) and Jesus have recommended him to us. I can't see the merit of sending him out on loan to Orient, unless there was no possibility of him training with the first team at Bournemouth, so they sent him elsewhere for that reason.
