Again, the usual accompaniment to our away game thread and a platform for you to post your experiences of games at Fleetwood over the years (although I think there has only ever been one! ). Any anecdotes you may have about your days out there would be most welcome as would any special memories you have too. This feature was missing against Northampton as I had cracked up again so apologies.
I'll begin with a really crap effort. I went last season on opening day and had a few 'experiences' as mentioned in the match day thread about the shopping and the random scally looking at me funny. I also remember it was the first time I had arranged to meet Bengull, Scottishgull and the others prematch and so I did so in the Jims Bar at the ground and the rarity on that occasion was that it was the first time I had drank a pint of bitter before a game for about 10 years.
I remember the toilets being brand new and superb! Oh it was heaven in there!
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.
I made the mistake of wearing my top that day and after the match ventured into some dive of a pub that showed the Newcastle v Spurs match. I recollect these 3 eyed humans that where all identical in look, giving me rather hostile looks. Fleetwood as a town is slightly above par with Accrington. Top tip-If arriving by train in Blackpool, get to Fleetwood by the tram network its 20 mins quicker than using the bus. The ground is very posh for a L2 stadia, and the toilets G1! You could smell the paint, albeit we where the 1st home game of the season and Exeter fans had yet to use them.
I'll put it down to the fact that we've only played them the once. (I think? ).
Hopefully some of you will have stories to tell of tomorrows trip next season (assuming we're both in the same league again). =D

Yeah, that's just the thing Andy, we played them once, they have a very boring ground and the game was a total bust, they're aren't stories.
We turned up and were accosted by a very pissed local who was a bit weird. Not much of a story, but I fear Andy'll flounce out again if no one tells a story.

Matt.
Ahh come on Matt, I know you only posted this because you felt sorry for me and didn't want me to go again.
So you met a p*ssed local who was a bit weird. That counts as a story, brief but an isolated account of the special memories you hold from last season so thanks

My overriding memory from last seasons game was that it was amazing how little ceremony there was for a clubs first EVER football league game.
It just shows what Fleetwood are all about. A club who have been bankrolled to the hilt, and their fans have no perspective. It felt like "just another game", and one where the home crowd expected to win after so many years of doing just that.
If you think about when we got promoted back to the FL, it was a big deal to us. I just didn't get that last season.
I suppose the other memories from last year are that I was very surprised to still find my car intact post-match, as I parked in one of the roughest streets I've seen for a while (beaten only by where I parked at the Don Valley Stadium 2 years ago - Jesus wept..........), and marvelling at how fat Fleetwood captain Steve McNulty was. Also fairly amusing was Nathan Craig took a shot in the warm up, missed the goal and smacked some lad full in the midriff, winding him. To be fair, NC got one on me a couple of weeks later, knocking my phone clean out of my hands from 30yds at Port Vale.
Oh, and the game was incredibly dull. Here's hoping to a better effort today - I'll be there!

Spot on Jeff and I remember now that I thought a similar thing at the time and commenting on it. Such a historic occasion and it felt a bit pre-season friendly-ish. Yeah, you're right, I forgot this.
