Agreed Gullscorer.

There are many being fooled by scarmongers into believing that leaving the E.U would cause utter doom in this country. Bullcrap.

Countries like Norway and switzerland our non-E.U , They trade freely with the E.U yes they have had to accept some E.U laws to do so and their econonmies unlike many member states go from strength to strenght.

20 Years ago we were told failure to join the single currency would cost us millions of jobs wreck the U.K economy and do irvesable damage, 20 years later as eurozone countries que up for bail-outs the U.K have come to realize not joining the EURO which only benefitted Germany was the best thing we ever did.

The U.K is the biggest net importer from all E.U member countries, E.U member countries have a massive stake in the U.K . E.D.F energy is 100% owned by the French goverment, Cadbury's is owned by Kraft foods, Michellen tryes have a stake in this country and so the list goes on, are we really suggesting these companies are going to cut their noses off to spite their faces and cost themselves millions maybe billions to pull out of this country..of course they are not.

Is wanting the return of the £53 millions pounds a day we give to the E.U , is wanting an end to the over bearing red tape that weighs down british buinsness that was supposed to end with membership of the E.U that in fact got worse being in the E.U. is wanting the return of the right to self govern and end benefit tourism really that moronic ?

In a recent study done by the BCC of 4,000 British firms only 15% want the U.K to stay in Europe under current conditions. 64 % want the U.K to stay in Europe only if the U.K can bring back powers currently held in Brussels to set umployment and health ans safety laws. 20% want the U.K to withdraw from the E.U alltogether...interesting. If the goverment can not bring back powers to set umployment and health ans safety laws that would suggest to me that 84 % of british buinsness would want out of the E.U.

Are you joking? She's already got Cameron under her thumb!

In any case, it looks as if she's heading for a deserved landside defeat in September's general election. She's clever, yes, but she's also very crafty with a deviousness Macchiavelli himself would have appreciated, and she's not averse to engaging in underhand conspiracy (EMILY's list Australia) and to twisting and suppressing the truth with outright lies ( in order to achieve the success of her own very dubious political agendas.

Awful person.

Breaking News: Julia Gillard has been ousted by Kevin Rudd as Australian Labour Party leader, and is to leave politics.

Which is not to say that she will be living a normal life in future. She retains her extreme feminist ideology, which is not about equality but all about a hatred for men and boys. Her dangerous activism still has potential to do great harm to Australian society, which has always been less than perfect, but hopefully will now begin to move again in the right direction.

What have I started here! ;-)

Loving the in depth debates, mainly on the EU which is quite right, it's one of the most important parts in British politics to debate about. Of course not to the Lib/Lab/Con, who thinks its much more important to sort out Gay Marriage and wind turbines.

Anyone got any views of the new Chancellors cuts?

Personally, I think Osbourne is an idiot and hasn't got the faintest idea what he's doing. You don't improve an economy by solely cutting your costs, you need to invest in the right areas that allow growth. By reducing local government funding by 10%, he will effectively destroy the high street as the costs of business rates and car parking fees will increase to reduce the deficit created. The exact opposite of what needs to be done.

Retail is a massively important part of our economy, it generates the most amount of jobs in the country and yet nothing is ever done to aid it. The high street is dying, not just because of retailers being slow to react to the internet, but because the costs of visiting your local town centre are just ridiculous. I parked in the new Grand Arcade in Cambridge a couple weeks ago, I was in there for 4 hours and foolishly didn't look at the cost of parking, assuming it would be around the £1.20 per hour mark. Nope. £9.60 it cost me for 4 hours. 9 POUND FRIGGING SIXTY!

No wonder no one has any money.

As for the other cuts, here's a great idea. Take the NHS for example. Let's take an organisation which already has too little money for frontline services, cut their budget and do nothing to actually work out why it's costing so much money. I'm sure that will go a long way to improving the Out Of Hours GP service offered by my local hospital which despite being given an 8:30pm appointment, caused us to be put into the same queue as people who turned up on the door and meant we weren't seen until 12:15pm, mainly because they had one GP seeing around 30 patients.

Then there's education. The future of our country is being cut to save a few quid.
Luke.

I think we should all just try and get on with our own lives despite us drowning in issues made worse by politicians to make our lives harder. Let them get on with their jobs of destroying the country and the world and we'll just get on with our jobs and enjoy what little we have. It is all pointless. There will always be something to moan about WHOEVER is in charge so just let them all be. We all know none of them really care so why try and change them? We all know that we can't please all people all of the time but politicians can't please ANYONE ANY of the time. So i'm happy with jumping over the uneccessary hurdles they put in our path every day because I know that it cannot be any different.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Nobody will ever agree with everybody about everything, and that goes for you, me, and all of us. That's why we have politics. But you can't tar all politicians with the same brush. Yes, many of them, perhaps the majority, are in politics to serve their own career interests (they too must pay the rent) or because they have a lust for power, a desire to control. But there are some who genuinely want to serve society, to represent their constituents. The problem is that these politicians are rarely the ones to climb up through the ranks into positions of power. Such is life.

I saw a thing recently, Camb, which said it was cheaper to get a parking ticket in Cambridge than it was to pay. I think it was a Saturday costing £26, or a ticket costing £25. Unsurprisingly, the local MP was calling for a change...

He wanted an increase in the fine :slap:

That was actually true Matt, but only in one car park which, ridiculously, was further out of town than around 20 other car parks. The ones closer to town got wind and put their fine prices up. There is actually one place which charges 38 quid for a day.

Fortunately, the residents of Cambridge are fighting back and offering driveway spaces for cheaper. Around 1000 spaces within 15 minutes walk of the 3 main shopping areas.

Fight the power!

Aaah, Heritage, I was hoping for your input. What's like in Australia really like under Gillard?

Camb, I've used driveway parking services before. Absolutely brilliant. I parked 10 minutes from Wembley for the NFL a couple of years ago, whole day, a tenner. I parked my Harley somewhere too for a few pence, but I can't remember what I was doing. Might have been football, but I really can't remember.

You have a Harley? I hope you have a big beard, you can't ride a Harley without a great big bushy beard.
