I am pleased to see that the club has today relaunched the membership scheme which I suggested 3 seasons ago.
The last couple of years the scheme has failed simply because it was not really thought through, never marketed for example in the matchday programme and was hidden away in the club website.
I have applied for blue membership as I live in Portugal and its good to see that the club recognise that some supporters live abroad, some live more than 100 miles from Plainmoor (yellow membership) and unemployed supporters can apply for green membership with no joining or membership fee but enabling them to attend matches for £10 a game.
In addition to the special categories mentioned above the standard scheme enables members to pay £15 per month and then so much a game depending on which part of the ground they wish to sit. for example Bristows Bench is £11 per game and £4 a game for under 18s which is terrific value particularly as the under 18s only pay £5 per month instead of £15 per month.
I applaud the clubs decision to back a membership scheme and I do hope that as many supporters as possible support the club in this way as I believe a membership scheme is very suited to a community club such at Torquay United.
