My only issue is with his Twitter antics. In terms of offers, other clubs may have said "we want you pending what league we are in/another player signing etc". Its down to our club, not Rene, to get it tied up or move on.
With regards to him playing regularly, this is more than a case of just him playing over the next x amount of years, but also what his next contract after that will be. If he stays at Torquay and does well, he will have offers above again. But if he plays for a league one club and does well, those offers could come from the championship. I dont think he's that good, but maybe he does.

Of course Scott you are right in a few days he will be out of contract so no doubt his mind will shortly be made, as said the boy Rene seems to be enjoying the show.

As always Dave, the ability to read between the lines and you always somehow understand what i'm trying to get at. Spot on and thanks.

Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Rene has done well here over his two year contract and boosted his reputation. When he joined us he hadn't broken into the Peterborough first team and had been sent out on loan time and time again, not settling anywhere. He has now proven himself to be a very good striker at League Two level and his bargaining position now is much better than it was two years ago.
There is no point in us getting drawn into an auction with bigger budgets. Rene served us well over his contract and will now go up the pyramid and earn himself more money in the process. No-one should begrudge him that. It is far better than if he had been awful and we were releasing him, and better than if he had only done reasonably well and no-one else wanted to take him.
We will replace him with someone with fewer options, who will hopefully do just as well for us. Rene will be hard to replace, but not impossible.

Inconsistent, take away pens and he hardly set the world alight, lazy and will be banned for at least 6 games
We'll be back...

42 L2 games, 16 L2 goals, which included 4 pens, so 12 from open play. 15 yellow's. Most certainly NOT setting the world on fire.
Tom Pope: 46 L2 games 6 yellow's 31 goals
Nahki Wells: 42 L2 games 6 yellow's 22 goals
Jamie Cureton: 40 L2 games 1 yellow 1 red 21 goals
Daniel Nardiello: 36 L2 games 4 yellow's 16 goals
Ade Akinfenwa: 44 L2 games 4 yellow's 16 goals
Jacques Maghana: 45 L2 games 1 yellow 16 goals
Rene Howe is definitely NOT irreplaceable, IMHO

I do think Rene has served us, I'm not sure why people still talk about him like he might sign a new deal.

Yes, he's a very moaning coach!cambgull wrote:Isn't he at Ivybridge CC teaching these days?
