Oh Kernow, a valiant effort, but in 2011, we went to Old Trafford in the playoff final. I move that you've plucked some years out of your arse.

taxilady wrote:'Oh United! The best team in the land! Oh UNited! You've really got things planned! You've got the skill, you've got the fight & that should see us through! Torquay Division Two!' THink I've got the words right; Dick Edwards' promotion song (sometime between 1970 & 1973) when we were trying to go up out of Division 3 (equivalent of today's League 1 & Div 2 would be today's Championship). The days before TV & silly money came along; & we used to sing about crowds of '20,000 strong' as well!
Still got a copy-in mint condition and lent it to some bloke a few years ago who was compiling a compilation album of football songs, and it was featured on there. Think its "on to Division Two", taxilady ,rather than "Torquay."

Very well spotted that I got the year wrong.

And how convenient that you use that mistake to try to disprove my point, rather than correct it. So, delete 2011, and add in 2010, and the point remains exactly the same.

But that's only the recent history. Go back further and we were an established 3rd Division (now League 1) side...

It's not so much I'm using it to disprove your theory, it's bigger than that, I'm using it to suggest that you're unreliable. If you're so casual with your dates, why wouldn't you be equally as casual with your definition of 'fighting off relegation'?

Nope, I'm very much afraid that you cannot be relied upon. I suggest you delete you account and change allegiances to Exeter City.

Amusing response. However I don't think we should be encouraging people with unreliable memories to go elsewhere with their money. With the average age of our support we'd be bankrupt fairly swiftly if that were to happen.

Ahaha, that's very true, add to that those with trouble exercising bladder control and the place'll be empty.

Yeovil Town will now be playing in the championship next season.

Wow, never thought i'd see them make it that far. Congrats to Yeovil, fully deserved.

Maybe this will make us seem less deluded if we say that one day it could be possible for us to achieve that?

Nah. dreaming.   :keepie:

So pleased to see them do well having spent next to nothing and they are an example to every small club with no money that success CAN be achieved.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

That's right Andy...When I played for Broxbourne Badgers reserves in the McMullans Brewery East Herts Saturday Reserve League, we didn't have one full time professional

its just proves that you dont need money, gary johnson has done it on a small budget with several lonies, if you have someone who can motivate the players there is no reason that a team like torquay cant do it, colchester, crewe, doncaster , scunny are all teams that had a small fan base and have all held there own in the championship. so why not!
a lot of teams have spent a lot of money trying to get out of leagues 1 and 2 and havent done it, so well done yeovil you are living proof that money dont always talk.

Well done to Yeovil really pleased for them and their club. Gary Johnson Nahhhhhhhhhh really shocked he's held in such high regard there. He didn't want be there!! Did OK at Bristol City then got the sack twice at Northampton and Peterbrough. Met him twice... arrogant **** end of.
Compare that to Mad dog met him at Cheltenham couldn't meet a nicer bloke (he hadn't had a drink granted).

As for Warnock he hasn't said anything derogatory but he needs to remember he had given up on football management after the sack at Notts Co.(I think it was there) when TQY came knocking (his words not mine) and that rekindled his interest. The rest is history (Neil).

Does make you wonder whos going to benefit from our impressive youth set up.

Fair Play to Yeovil

Absolutely delighted for Yeovil. They don't "deserve" it, they haven't "earned" it, they've just gone and got it. No sob story, no phoenix from the ashes, no bullshit, just a team with a decent mix of youth and experience, talent and hope.
Feel a bit sad for Jane, who has seen her Bees miss out not once, but twice in a matter of days, but then, she's a Torquay fan, I guess she's used to disappointment by now.

That said, it's not getting there, it's staying there.
