Now they've proved they've got a nasty streak, they'll be better for the experience.

When an uncomfortable situation arises in the future, they'll be quicker to respond with the necessary action.

Whatever your opinion of the decision made, I think the board deserve great credit for acting quickly and decisively. TUFC of old (by which I mean anything up to today) would have debated and considered this decision for weeks, got rid of him in June, got a new manager in sometime in July and given him no time to prepare a squad for the season.

Whatever the ultimate reason for their decision, they've made it, acted on it, and given us the best chance to prepare properly for next season. On this occasion they're put the football club first, and the feelings of individuals second - in short they're behaved in the manner a business that wants success would do. Hopefully the new man will be in situ imminently, he can get the right people around him, sort the retained list and start signing some players so that we don't end up recruiting everyone elses's left-overs as usually happens.

This decision, whilst not universally supported, will have provided many fans with confidence that the same mistakes are not going to be made again. It is a statement of intent - and one made in a timely manner. We flirted with relegation this season, and it is not a position we expect to be in, or will tolerate being in. I support that message.

Agreed - what pleased me most about today's decision was that it always seemed the tough, sometimes ruthless calls would be made by every other club accept us. I certainly feel our 'family-friendly' nature has worked against us - no more so than with the Paul Buckle fiasco where we came across as a complete soft touch. I just hope we can now move forward and look ahead to better things.

Many thanks to the board for making the correct decision. Why let a fiasco ensue, when it is clear for the future of the club, that Ling was sacked to give us a chance of having a decent season.

Don't think it's about blame Dave. I'm sure they're aware that their focus over the last 12 months was not conducive to a good season on the pitch. Mistakes were definitely made, and I hope they've learnt lessons and won't make them again. But one of the issues they identified was the management of the team, and they're acted quickly to rectify it.

Come on, Baker "steps aside" Ling gets the bullet and becomes the fall guy, of course it's about allaying the blame.

The Board hasn't been well run since AJB stood down as Chairman.

They were the best of times (promotion from the basement Division and a prolonged stay in Division III).

They were the worst of times (relegation to the basement Division IV).

The sons of AJB are not having their dream, vision and direction of TUFC taken seriously.

I am no sooooeth sayer, just a simpledon (don't dwell on it) observer.

Disagree, That management got us into the play-offs last season and brought in over £500k. When asking for part of that to bolster the squad (as promised) the Management were knocked back. It's common knowledge that the Board were publicly saying money was available for signings only for Wild Bill Phillips to blurt out that actually No, there wasn't. Not suprisingly it didn't take too long for the "stress" to take its toll on a manager denied the tools he required to take us forward. The Board rightly or wrongly thought we were safe and gambled by witholding funds from the playing side to spend off the field. I don't have a problem with that in essence, my problem is to then allow the Management to take all the blame for it. Baker stepped aside and almost immediately Thea Bristow is taking flak for what looks like a poor handling of the situation. Hardly her fault if you ask me.

The real culprits of the whole sorry saga in my opinion are Baker and Phillips. The real shame for me is they have the ear of the new Chairman. I'm hoping that other members of the Board see sense and can find a way to take more of a lead as I have no doubt they have always had far more vision that the dynamic duo.
