We're going to Fratton Park!

Post by taunton_gull »

What an away day that will be! :scarf: Let's just hope it's a decent time of year and not on a Tuesday!

Today is still sinking in what with the relief and mental exhaustion but we can start looking forward to next year. Like all I will be praying the club has learnt some valuable lessons, I hope they make the right decisions and that we can look forward to having a strong competitive squad next season. Like most I don't know the ins and outs but there is much to sort through and not much time to do it. Everyone knows if we're not so lucky again it could be virtually impossible to come back but hopefully the board realise that and are in the course of taking the right action.

It's looking more of a northernish league next year with the additions of Hartlepool, Bury, Sc.unthorpe and the loss of Aldershot and Barnet - I'm hoping Newport may join Mansfield. Still, with Rovers, E*eter, the cornish it should be decent - and hopefully more fun if we can stay out of the brown stuff.

I was going to do a thread called, WE'RE GOING TO GLANFORD PARK! such is my excitement at going back to a old stomping ground in Scunny but i guess a visit to Fratton is just as exciting. :~D

Next season is a dream. Mansfield 15 minutes away, Scunny 15 minutes from my mums, Hartlepool, Bury, Pompey, Chesterfield stayed down 5 minutes away along with Exeter and Plymouth, three inaccessible teams for me in Gillingham, Barnet and Aldershot leave us and hopefully Grimsby to come up, Burton and Bradford to stay down and i'm laughing. Gutted about Rotherham going up but you can't have it all.

Roll on august
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Yes, can't wait for the fixtures to come out and then see if there is any way I can go to this game, hopefully it's not on a Tuesday.

Please, please, please don't let this be on a Tuesday night! Derbies against Argyle and the Greeks to look forward to, as well as Rovers.

Hartlepool, Bury and Scunthorpe only good for northern exiles really.

The Pompey fans seem to be very arrogant about next year. The people on the League 2 groups on facebook seem to think they will walk this "tinpot" league. I will certainly laugh when they realise this isn't an easy league to get out of.

My Pompey mate said the exact same thing when they were relegated to league 1. He was talking of how they would walk the league etc. Laughed my arse off when they got relegated again. Cannot wait until we play them at home. Shall be travailing to plainmoor with him, going to be a crappy journey home for the loser what with all the banter. :scarf: :scarf:

Just like Rovers, just like Plymouth. Here's hoping for a similar outcome.

I've lived up here for 30 years and have had my fair share of contact with Skates. Like you I respect their passion for their club and the area but trust me, they really are as arrogant as any fans I've ever met. I've played against teams from Pompey at almost every level from Saints Youth down through the Southern League and beyond, always the same hatred from them for anything and anyone from this part of Hampshire and sheer arrogance.
Saints fans aren't much better but they can at least respect that I support a small club from Devon without spitting insults.

Obviously I'm extremely happy to see them where they are now :)

It's the supporters that make me hope it all goes tits up for Pompey next season and they have a real battle of the ports with Argyle to avoid relegation!

According to their supporters Luton were going to walk the tinpot Conference. August will welcome them to their 5th season!!

Argyle were going to walk the tinpot League 2 and it amazes me on PASOTI that they are still saying it is a crap league when they have avoided relegation by only a single point in the last two seasons.

What do the numbers 21, 23, 23, 21, 21 mean to you? ......... Argyle's finishing position in the last 5 seasons! :~D

Amusing that we were at our lowest ebb for a few years and they couldn't finish above us then! :P
