What would we give for Di Canio's infectious enthusiasm as shown yesterday at Newcastle on our touchline tomorrow night.
With that kind of Manager the players should be busting a gut to win the game. I'm not advocating anything else about Di Canio but you cannot fault his desire to win.
When you think back to Ling (and Taylor) leaning against the dugout uprights with their arms folded and saying nothing you can see my point.
At least Knill (and Brass who incidentially has never be acknowledged on the OS) gets animated, shouting and pointing.
Whoever is our Manager next season let's hope he shows passion.

Animation, shouting and pointing are not allways a sign of good manager. The manager and coaching staff spend most of the week on the training ground preparing the team for the next game, doing drills and vocaly coaching the team etc in the way they want the team to play, this at some point will be reinforced before the players cross the white line.

A manager and coaching staff who are jumping up and down waving their arms around like a derranged traffic controller points towards only one thing, that's the team have gone out are not following the instructions given.

Do agree however having a passionate manager who atleast looks interested isn't a bad thing, thogh in the case of DiCanio whilst credit is due that was some win, Roy Keane had a similar effect the honeymoon doesn't last forever.

Agree Dave, although if i were a manager i'd be like Di Canio, i also accept that i may get too involved in the game that i end up setting a bad example and have my judgement clouded on the whole picture. I would like someone who shows passion and animation now and again but Di Canio is too much. I accept that people are different but i don't like managers who sit down quiet all game. What you should also take into consideration is that Newcastle went into that game off the back of a tiring UEFA Cup run and are struggling at the wrong end themselves. Sunderland also scored two goals that on another day wouldn't have got anywhere near the goal so i'd say it's beginners luck and when it all begins going stale again his passion and vibrancy won't have any effect whatsoever.

We could install Ferrari Lover as manager. he would show that Di Canny **** type infection. He would also have the worst preforming up agains the wall and shot. Not sure what he would shoot em with yet but shot non the less. I have a feeling Austrian Andy would one of the firing squad too

I don't know; I'd rather the manager just do his job and win some games. I rather go the impression with Di Canio that some of it was playing the part. Jumping up and down like a lunatic gets the fans on his side early, so that when they lose the next game they'll say "oh, but at least he has passion" while they stroke their beards.
