Sub 'Keeper
Sub 'Keeper
Will we have a young replacement goalie on the bench tomorrow? Did we against Gills?
Rice could succumb to his injury or even get sent off.... I guess it would put the seal on our farcical season to see Barnet sticking 4 past a hapless defender who's donned the gloves.
Couldn't happen could it?

Instead of all this negativity, why don't you take a look? We had highly rated youth keeper Connor Thompson on the bench vs Gillingham and I am sure he will be on the bench again tomorrow.

Many clubs have had to put an outfield player in goal and team to practise for this situation and i have seen many players go in goal and been decent.
Its no different to having used all your subs and it gets sent off.

Thompson will be the sub keeper tomorrow. There's 7 Subs so why would we not put him there

Yeah agree, hope Ricey can make it through the 90 and we've got Thompson there if need be. I've got nothing against shoving a young lad in the mix if the situation needed it. In fact we should have done that a lot more this season with Yeoman, Niall and others. Often they can surprise you with how well they can acclimatise but most aren't given the chance because i feel the managers are frightened to rather than the age old excuse of wanting to bed them in slowly so they don't get overawed. Don't underestimate the resilience and adaptability of young players Mr Managers! Anyway, i just hope whoever is in goal that they play a blinder and are helped by some effective ball retention in attacking areas thus not inviting pressure on our goal. We need to press high up the pitch and keep hold of the ball in possession if there is nothing on if possible.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Ricey is doing well these days; I have no worries (apart from his fitness) about him being in goal.
Equally I have no worries about any of our youngsters playing in the first team as and when required. It's an opportunity for them to demonstrate or realise their potential. It must be presumed that they have what it takes at least to do that, otherwise they would not be at the club.

As said we had Connor Tompson on the bench against Gillingham and he no doubt will be on the bench again tomorrow, if there was any doubt the club could and would have gone down the road of an emergency loan keeper.

...............only for said emergency loanee to be recalled before the next Torquay game due to his parent clubs first choice keeper injuring his hand eating a hot dog.

I doubt anyone would get the ball in the net with a sub there, How about HMS Torbay. Now that would be a shot stopper. Even help if N Korea fired a shot at us. With the luck we have had this season nothing would surprise me anymore.Yellow4life wrote:Thompson will be the sub keeper tomorrow. There's 7 Subs so why would we not put him there
