I doubt there are any of us who want to see us go down Scott and should we stay up then although i take the banter as a bit of fun, would you accept the doom-mongers saying i told you so if we got relegated when all they will be doing is what you will be if we stay up? Of course i won't be saying i told you so if we go down because the occurence will be final but i DID say i told you so later on in our poor run when i and a handful of other 'dissenters' saw some trouble brewing months before Christmas after spending months and months fending off the critics who said we were just being negative.

I am happy to be called anything under the sun if we stay up ( i draw the line at homo though! ).
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

At the risk of hijacking Andrew C's thread, this board has been increasingly filled with doom filled prophecies of relegation pretty much every day since December/January time and it does make depressing reading.

Whilst I accept that the football hasn't been great, and we have had some shocking results, we are still in the football league, and still have a chance of staying up.

Whilst I appreciate that questions need to be asked at the end of the season, my joy if we stay up will be great, and I will very much enjoy coming onto this board and having a celebration.

I know that the harbingers of doom don't want us to go down, they also haven't been very (if at all) positive almost all season - that is why I will delight in coming on here and celebrating!!

I welcome the celebrations Scott as it means we have stayed up. :goal:

Sorry for hijacking Andrews thread too.

It's good to know that there will be no 'I told you so' from Andy,as I'm sure he's aware that his predictions have fluctuated from week to week and sometimes from day to day. In addition if you tell people enough of the teams near the bottom are going down it's inevitable you've a good chance of getting at least one right.

If we only look back as far as 30th March, we would stay up but York were already down:
York are gone so that leaves one spot left. You know i'm a 'realist' shall we say but now i just cannot see us going down
and the previous month of February:
Anyway, about Plymouth. They WILL be in the conference come the end of the season. I said that when Sheridan took over and am still utterly convinced that under his style of management they are doomed.

Any end of season crowing about ' I told you so' and I'll be digging even deeper into my big book of Austrian quotes

Shock news : Opinions can change - Torquay go on 592 game winning run but because i said they were going down when they had a bad run i HAVE to stick with this regardless of what happens. Plymouth pick up form and now i am entitled to revise my opinion. York will go down i still hold that opinion.

Just say your favourite player admits he's a racist, homophobe, hates disabled people and loves to go out of a night getting hammered and smashing peoples faces in. Would he still be your favourite player or would you change your mind in light of recent events?

I've often been accused of not having much of a life as i use this forum a lot but at least i don't scour the archives trying to look for previous posts to rekindle to help me prove a point and try and prove my superiority on what is just a football forum. You're just another fan mate not David Cameron.

The very point i was making Andy, it's just that sometimes people forget their opinion has changed. They claim they've been saying X all along whereas in truth they were saying Y or Z for a lot of that time.

I know I certainly change my opinion. When I see you write
i take the banter as a bit of fun

I believe you, but half an hour later I change my mind and decide you didn't really mean it after all.

It's not just Andy who is sure that we are going down, I've been saying it for the last two months based on what I see, what I read and the situation based upon my own opinion. Could see things going wrong since the end of last season. As a result of a few of my posts, I have recieved unwarranted abuse...Why can't most people see what a few of us can, your 'feel good factor' for the next few months is in the hands of people that you probably have never met... Love to stay in the League but following the GULLS is a serious hobby and not a way of life for me. I believe that allows me to see things more clearly.....'Clutch at straws' if you want to but be fair to people who have alternate opinions.....It is possible to support the team and be negitive to others, it's how the individual feels....Sorry, but we are going down even though my heart says not...I can handle that.....When we got to the stage that we were relying on others to fail rather than to take on the situation ourselves, that's when I knew.

Not bothered or interested in the slightest anymore Joey. I'll just continue having banter good and bad with the people on here i can understand and are on my wavelength and continue to enjoy it without picking holes in people all the time for enjoyment. It's just as well i'm a bit thick as i don't understand many of your posts anyway, it's a football forum not some sort of psychological riddles website.

Very pleased to see this and look forward to regular input from Mr Candy and Mr Herbert whilst realising the restrictions on what they will be able to debate.

Having logged on I wondered if I was on the correct thread having scrolled back through the last few posts, but yes it is the thread you started Mr Candy and I do hope the input extends to all 3 Torquay United fans forums (I know you contributed on TFF also today).

Going off topic in line with recent posts, you really are an amateur AJ as AAG did not flounce off permanently for the next 2 days. You have to try a lot harder! ;-)

Big day on Saturday so lets make it one to match many other Plainmoor occasions in the history of the club, and hopefully when you log in next week Mr Candy it will be a much happier place.

Still a lot to do even if we win with the whole division being so compact. I was interested in something I read (it may have been on here), that after 40 games THIS season we had secured enough points to have avoided relegation LAST season, and after 43 games LAST season we had accumulated enough points to have already secured automatic promotion THIS season.

Here's hoping the New Broom will start our club getting things the right way around! :keepie:

So if we haven't done as well as we did last season, we also haven't as badly. But then, presumably, the same can be said of the other clubs in the division. Margins have been narrower, and Gillingham have topped the League with loads of wins by a single goal.

Makes me think that Mr Candy and the club only need to do some tweaking, rather than a complete overhaul, to get us back on track next season. The same could be said of other clubs, of course, but it's not as if we need a lottery millionaire to run things here. Oh, wait...
