I see that there is room for criticism, given that it takes into account promoted/relegated teams who are, perhaps, in inappropriate divisions, but otherwise, I think it's excellent analysis. It takes a constant (points awarded for a win, loss and draw) and allows teams banded by division (those of similar ability, budget etc) to rank against each other. It does require the reader to accept that the best team over a given period is the one which gains most points, but over the course of a calendar year, this is probably the case. I like it.
