wivel I was at the game with my late Dad who was a Liverpudlian. He rarely came to Plainmoor but even he was excited on that famous day.
A never to be forgotten day. I travelled by train to London for the replay and was on local TV (Westward TV?) as they filmed us getting on the train at Torquay Station.
10 minutes from White Heart Lane and a cloudburst caused the match to be postponed but I returned the following week to see us lose 5-1.
Everything about football has changed so much since those far off days.
If you think about it it is quite extraordinary.
No substitutes, no added time, no 4th official, no yellow or red cards, heavy leather balls, very different boots compared to today,no extra time in FA Cup games, different rules for Goalkeepers, 2-3-5 formation( 2 full backs, 2 wing halves with a centre half and 5 forwards!!)
I think I had better stop.
Great days.
