What next for TUFC and why?

I see we have been giving a Swansea under 21 international defender a trail this week. Possibly looking to keep him for a little longer.

Momentum on the pitch will count for nothing if half the squad go at the end of the season. The Board room needs a clear out but any fresh blood coming in need to not only have capital but also a good work ethic and a desire to improve the club both on and off the pitch. Take the pressure off Thea and let her enjoy her money.

CH won't be going so he has some very tough decisions to make in the summer. He mustn't be fooled by any sudden surges in form. As others have said, playing well when the pressure is off means nothing. He needs to get rid and I'm hoping the scouting has already begun in and around the lower leagues. Check out the Conference South for decent players who can step up.

Love him or loath him, Brucie tells it as it is from his viewpoint.

The return of goodwill that came to support the 2nd leg of the semi-final has definitely gone for the rest of the season.

The collective clusterf*ck controlling the club need to go.

Thea is the damsel in distress and KT comes riding in. I know KT by many names including Kelvin Thomas. Wishful thinking, miracles and fairytales only happen in reality when real boots on the ground make then happen.

Be careful of what you ask for, unless you wish to receive it.

Exactly. Some posters are claiming that these next 13 games are crucial so we can see which players are worth keeping for next season. But as there's no pressure on them, how much are we really going to learn? Cameron was on fire at the end of last season when the pressure was off but has been poor this season apart from the first few games. He's not the only one. I want players who will stand up when the chips are down and run through brick walls but I don't see that with the current crop. We need more characters of Hargreaves' ilk on the pitch and a proper manager in the dugout ;-)

The games are bad but this forum has livened up, it's been dead on here for weeks one defeat and it shows all of us care about Torquay United. A few weeks of good results will change all of us but the lead has got to come from the manager as he needs to get his finger out :keepie:

Let's face it - even if we chalk up an impressing winning streak from now until the end of the season, it won't really matter. The pressure is off the players as we have nothing to play for. It's a similar feeling to last season. We were all but relegated long before the win at Mansfield. When the pressure is off we do ok but when it comes to crunch we often bottle it.

What next? A sub-1000 gate for the first time since 1986, that's what.

Absolutely in agreement, but a scatter-gun approach is not needed. Hopefully, any new investor wont have their Vickers in a twist, but with due diligence will neutralise identified targets. Remember, "hitmen" work in pairs - "spotter and shooter".

Then there are snipers. Plenty on here working in tandem.

Sadly our troubles are far more deeper than getting Young and Bowman playing. Unless there is major change at board level then I still fear we have not reached rock bottom yet!!

Once we've won a couple of games, you'll be back.

You always go back.

royalgull wrote:Just have to win as many games as possible, sounds blindingly obvious but also if Hargreaves has any question marks over players then he should start his pre season now. Dawson, Reid, Guegen, McQuilkin and possibly some of the youngsters should play every game, have a good look at them and make some decisions for next seasons. the ones he's decided on that are going shouldn't be involved. Try and get some team spirit and some feel good factor back, that's not easy but new faces be it the trialists/loanees or ideally 2 or 3 of the youth team would help that.

This club is stuck in a horrible rut, no one seemingly enjoys going to games there is a defeatist resignation about Torquay games at the moment and we've got to do something about it. Love to see a board clear out in the summer, a player clear out and a fresh start all round.
Good plan! but possibly the bigger picture does not involve the team, but what happens at Board Level. Will the Board be looking at crowd numbers in the remaining home fixtures ( excluding season ticket holders & away supporters ) ? They must already be "doing their sums " Are they thinking of going part time next season? We would not be in this mess if they had supported Ling & not sacked him & appointed a muppet in his place!

Spot on. Board clearout is a must if Thea is seriously going to protect her interests and the player clearout is clearly needed.
