Irritating as he is in competition with two others........

Looks like we can put this one to bed. Eddie Howe wants him as part of their squad this season and has ruled out a loan at the present time. Hopefully he will see the benefit Cargill had of being at Torquay and consider sending other promising youngsters our way.

I think we will see him back on a years loan. He would be first choice and exactly what Bournemouth are looking for in the aid of his devlopment. Torquay is also not a million miles away for him so can play for us and also be in fairly decent contact with his club.

I would welcome him back next year. He won't be first choice at Bournemouth, so first team football in a full time side should be beneficial to his career. We have the two month's history and the connection with Hargreaves to hopefully swing things our way.

Seems like they are expecting big things from him, hopefully they will think a full season here will aid his progress.
Bailey Cargill is the only left back we've had all season. He's a class act and looked to be a level headed lad. Bournemouth are right to expect big things of him. As much as I'd like to see him back at Plainmoor, I doubt that it will happen.

Of course he should be. However, I expect that most if the players are too young to remember "King" Arthur and his daft ginger combover.

I agree that this is the way forward Edd, I always have but in our situation as it stands it is the last thing we need. I'm presuming this is what you meant, more long term than for now and I agree.

Loanees from bigger clubs have a big part to play at clubs like us but never at the expense of available squad members which was Mr Knill's forte.

The damage is already done, as Ben and others have pointed out, money used to sack managers could have used to back them, how much of the money brought on players sales was re-invested in fit for purpose replacements, suggestions are pointing towards in big fat 0%, the miracle goal scorer could have been here all the way a long.

However bringing this into the now and forgetting was is done, in the past. From the outside looking in, so could be wrong, there seems to be trance like state around the club, there seems to be feeling coming from with in that the conference would be an easier league for TUFC to compete and survive in, there seems to be feeling that TUFC will settle nicely right back into the conference, we'll get back to winning ways , we'll pushing up at the right end of league, as such fans will come flocking back and everything in the yellow garden once again will be rosy red.

This isn't going happen, we as a club don't have an automatic right to be a big fish in a small pond , the conference has moved on since we left it, there's a lot of good teams down there, and more well financed clubs than our last visit, thanks to profile of the conference that's been raised over the years.

For our club to have any hope re-building it must stay in the league that's a simple fact, the lost income will kill of any hope with out significant new investment. I'm no expert on finance , whether directors loans, a share issue , or via other means, again as said I'm no expert on this subject, but however, the risk of our club financing a move from a proven goal scorer was worth it.

The club had done it before, Buckle went out on January and brought back Jake Robinson, Gavin Tomlin and Craig Stanley, we shot up the league and should have gone up.

With folk up here preparing for their trip to Wembley with the Spireites and them looking certs to go up, can I suggest we borrow a shit load of cash and try and hit the jackpot like them and if it goes tits up then we can get away with not paying it for a bit and start again like Pompey? I think we have been doing something wrong all this time (ie working with a budget) when we should be throwing financial caution to the wind and having great times. It works for others.

That is my suggestion. **** being run properly, get into debt and let's sign all and sundry and have a whale of a time. If it all goes wrong we'll be back where we started anyway. In non league and watching shit football. Is this a viable option? Morally as a club we are doing the right thing but even that looks unsustainable with fans having to continue to pay more for an increasingly poor product. Can't we do what Chesterfield and others have done, pay more and enjoy the ride instead of paying more to watch endless poverty footy?

It's just a question. What would you all think if we started operating well beyond our means in the pursuit of happiness?

Almost 36 hours in, and not one of our self-professed experts has come close to offering a way for us to afford this miracle goalscorer.

There was one suggestion, but that read like a list of the top 4 worst ideas in history (not just from football, either). Looks like he'll be going to the Cobblers then. Shame, since the answer was, apparently, so easy.

Matt.

Of the other 39, six - Conor Thompson, Dan Lavercombe, Jake Hutchings, Kirtys MacKenzie, Sam Chaney and Shaun Cooper - didn't get on the field (Cooper still might). That's been our problem all season. History tells us that generally the more players we use, the more we struggle. Didn't we have over 40 the last time we lost our Football League status?
Tommy, you usually find the inverse is true. Teams dont struggle because they use so many players. They use so many players BECAUSE they are struggling and trying to find a way to "freshen the roster" to use an Americanism.

If a team's doing fine, there is no need to cast about trying lots of different faces...We can safely say (for instance) we used a lot less players in our 2nd season back in the league (about 25% less if soccerbase is accurate) than we did our 1st season (and some of them would have been caused by the transfers of Benyon and Wroe in January).

ferrarilover wrote:OK then lads, let's sign someone with lots of L2 experience. Good in the air, excellent with both feet. Comfortable joining a brand new group of players and skotting straight in. Also good for a goal every other game. He currently plays for Leeds United, where he earns three grand a week. Northampton are also in for him and are willing to pay 2/3 of his salary. Find some way to make a better offer. Matt.
Ahhhhh ...... Shaquille Coulthirst - NOW the signing of Baily Cargill makes sense !! Not from bankrupt (allegedly) Leeds, but from Spurs !! I thought the loan deadline was 5 pm yesterday so how did we manage to smuggle in this lad ?? "There's only one Shaquille Coul ....." - doesn't roll off the tongue very easily, does it? The last loan player we had from Spurs was Adam Smith ..... much easier !! :)

Give Hargreaves a chance he can be judged over the summer as this is Knills mess and it shows that as Chris has not played his striker very often. He's most probobly had the chance of this lad whilst after he could not get a striker and yes he may be thinking about next season but not given up on this. :keepie:
