He is mainly a midfielder, but has also played in both full back positions and in the centre too. If we're going to use him though, it probably should be as a midfielder with a back up option of a full back.

Perhaps the willingness of Hargreaves to allow Lathrope to leave indicates that Cooper, a similar style of player, has the manager's confidence to be fit for next season.

Then again, perhaps Chris just didn't rate him and reckons we can do better.

Utility man, so I guess he can play in midfield. Too small to go in the centre without a couple of giants to support him and too slow to be a winger, so, for us, it's a no. Could be a decent enough replacement for Lathrope, though.

If Suarez's mate had kept himself to himself he would have been a ready made captain....

Take your pick really. I think it was ankle followed by hamstring on return.

what was the injury last season?

Shaun Cooper used to be captain at Bournemouth. If Davey can get him in excellent physical order he could be a ball winning midfielder with a decent touch and an excellent replacement for Mansell.

I don't think it should be anybody - in honour of the best captain we've ever had, we should rest the armband for a season....

I doubt it will be Pearce, he has had a tough time with personal issues and i think is looking to return back to the Midlands.

The question we should perhaps be asking is who we can now attract to the club with the promise of the captains armband?

We desperately need a leader on the pitch, someone who can encourage, rather the criticise the younger talents undoubtable at the club such as Cameron and Young. Someone who can lead by example.

This will be an absolutely critical decision for Chris Hargreaves, my guess is he will bring someone new in

It entirely depends who comes in and who leaves. Pearce would be my choice of the current squad but if he gets a good offer from elsewhere, he will be off. Hopefully we can keep him though.
