Relaunch of Membership Scheme

by portugull » 23 May 2013, 13:22

I am pleased to see that the club has today relaunched the membership scheme which I suggested 3 seasons ago.

The last couple of years the scheme has failed simply because it was not really thought through, never marketed for example in the matchday programme and was hidden away in the club website.

I have applied for blue membership as I live in Portugal and its good to see that the club recognise that some supporters live abroad, some live more than 100 miles from Plainmoor (yellow membership) and unemployed supporters can apply for green membership with no joining or membership fee but enabling them to attend matches for £10 a game.

In addition to the special categories mentioned above the standard scheme enables members to pay £15 per month and then so much a game depending on which part of the ground they wish to sit. for example Bristows Bench is £11 per game and £4 a game for under 18s which is terrific value particularly as the under 18s only pay £5 per month instead of £15 per month.

I applaud the clubs decision to back a membership scheme and I do hope that as many supporters as possible support the club in this way as I believe a membership scheme is very suited to a community club such at Torquay United.

No problem. Each brick costs £30.

Thanks Andy, it is appreciated, how much is a brick please?

I am sending my first payment tomorrow for the season ticket so i shall email him and ask about the brick thing too.

Hi Andy,
Yes it is still active. If you ring on 01803 328666 and ask for Pete or email [email protected] we can get your payment details and what you want written on the brick. Any difficulties please let me know.
Regards,
Andrew

Not related to the thread but i didn't know where else to ask if the yellow brick road thing is still active? I never got round to doing it but something reminded me the other day and i'd still like to have a brick if it's still possible? Does anyone know?

Cheers Matt. :-D

Just a mention about the membership scheme (as it happens to be what the thread is about :clown: ).
If i had not been about to purchase my first ever season ticket then, as an exile i would definately have joined up to it. It's a great idea.

As far as I know, it's 10% off almost everything in the club shop, priority tickets for all ticket matches, a guaranteed spot in sold out (but non-all ticket) matches, a warm glow from knowing you're contributing to the summer transfer kitty and that's about it. If I remember rightly from the letter sent by Thea last season, there will also be the opportunity to bring-a-long-a-friend-a for cheapo as well, which is nice. If I get my reply from ExileGull any time soon, there might be bumper stickers too.

Matt.

I guess the answer is that it isn't meant to be an incentive to buy a ST or otherwise, it's designed to give people a more flexible price structure. STs do come with other benefits, such as a reduction on club shop prices and guaranteed priority cup tickets.
Matt.
How much reduction do you get Matt and what other benefits of being a ST holder are there? I ask as i am to make my first instalment on tuesday for my first ever ST and haven't got a clue what benefits there are.

Will membership holders gain the chance to get tickets for high-priority matches (home and away) earlier than general sale too? So ST Holders can have a window, then membership, then general sale. Boosts the opportunity of numbers increasing a bit I guess.

Something seems wrong with the pricing here . I am a season ticket holder on the Pop but am waiting
until I get my work bonus so I can renew.
I will then be asked to pay £340 upfront. However with the membership scheme I can attend all game for only £324 and if I miss one even less. What is now the point of renewing my season ticket?

Ive e-mailed for the application. See if I get a reply. The last time I e-mailed, which was about purchasing a yellow brick wall brick, i got no reply, and they lost my business

as usual its a fantastic idea but largely a waste of time once again i'd imagine?? most people either cant afford to, or arent interested in giving away their spare money. mores the pity, but i think it'll fade away quickly and quietly as the last two fruitless attempts to get it off the ground both did.

i will continue to pay my £15 a month, for the full 12 months, and hopefully keep membership no 0001. btw i went to the grand total of one home game per season since this has been running.

anyone who is considering it, please do it, our little club needs all the money it can get. the card looks great in your wallet and you can sleep easy at night knowing that a little bit of your hard earned is going to a great cause!!

sign up everybody!!!
