Torquay v Red Star Belgrade 90/1

Post by Colorado Gull »

Mr Andrew Candy  emailed me and asked to put this on the forum, a request from a fan.
Hello, I wonder if you can help? I am looking for the ticket stub from the above game(Torquayv. red star belgrade 90/1) and would pay £10 for one in good condition. Many thanks
I'm not sure what the best way of contact would be, but if you have any information on the request, then email Andrew Candy  ?

I remember this game but I don't remember it being all ticket but then I suppose thinking about some of the players Red Star would have had at the time, there is every possibility it might have been. I seem to remember we played a Mexican team called Pumas around the same time. They were a tasty looking outfit as well.

Might be worth trying 'Collectable Adge' in Calstock. He's a programme and football memorabilia dealer who (last I heard, anyway) specialises in match tickets. He's an Argyle fan but always had a good stock of other west country clubs.

It was pay on the gate. I have the program from the is game which was a single piece of paper folded in half in black and white.

it was pre-season 1990. it was definitely pay on the gate. the ground wasnt even full. i also have the programme.

i remember we had a few decent friendlys that summer, it was when bateson had just took over and he was full of promises to us about how we were going places and these matches were an indicator of what was to come and how we could all expect good things.

half time entertainment for matches in this era was a big idea that didnt last long.

we drew 2-2 with belgrade i think. we also did play pumas of mexico and lost 3.0

pumas had a well dodgy shirt that ive never forgotten. indeed i posted a picture of it a little while ago in a thread on the popside about best and worst footy shirts.

im sure it was at the end of that season that belgrade won the european cup final on penalties.

it was also the season we won the play off final on penalties at wembley. (wearing that daft yellow and white striped shirt).

indeed it was a very hot saturday afternoon. as usual there were no new replica kits available, in fact in typical tufc fashion the team didnt even have the full proper kit, we had to wear white shorts if memory serves me correctly.

I think Red Star did a tour of the UK and Played Crewe as well. I saw that game in addition. I was bored. staying up there while doing a training week. The footy took my mind of it.
